What the iPod just played:

As earworms go, I've been stuck with worse.

However, I had no idea that the video was so wonderfully bizarre...

  1. Good song; fun video.

A classic from a more enlightened musical age.

  2. That song was popular at the club when I was in the Army in the early 90's. That at "Join in the Chant."

For some reason the ladies all bolted off the dance floor when this song played. They all seemed to like this song better.

  3. And they're named after a lesser known S&W revolver too!!!

  4. I don't think I've heard that one in fifteen years. Thanks for reminding me radio/clubland playlists didn't always consist of pure suck and fail.

  5. Weer'd.

In that case, I prefer Front 296. ;)

  6. Note that the use the thumb and two fingers to symbolize the number three.

Looks like Tarantino got one right.

  7. How very delightfully 80's Euro Nosferatu. I think I recognize the Bruxxles atomic-sculpture, but I was going to say the spire-ball was the East-Berlin radio tower. Ah, summer in Germany, always so grim, dull, and overcast.

  8. Weird claim at Wikipedia regarding this song and the egg theme in the video:

"According to bandmember Patrick Codenys, this was because [director Anton] Corbijn accidentally heard that the song title was 'Egg Hunter'."

Makes as much sense as anything else.

  9. Tam,

I slapped together an MP3 CD to listen to in the tractor.

'Tater Pie is what wakes me up at night.

Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys, though the one I listen to is on the "Bob Wills Texas Playboys" CD.

    Pie, pie, Tater Pie.
    P-I-E, E-I-P pie.

    and

I'm looking for a gal who cooks,
I don't care much the way she looks.
I'll be hers until I die
if she can bake that Tater Pie.

*sigh* True love. Now, if I could just find the recipe -- and figure out if they mean sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, or meat and potatoes pie (like shepherds pie, or something).

  10. This post got me thinking about who holds the title for Worst Music Video ever. I can make a good case for Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" video.
