Safe in the loving arms of Nanny State.

As someone who often lies awake at night, trembling in her futon with the fair trade cotton sheets pulled over her head while those nightmarish images replay in my head of terrorist-commandeered trains smashing into buildings, I am glad to know that the highly-trained and alert guardians of the TSA are on the job and stepping up their efforts to make sure this sort of thing will never happen again!

  4. Has the TSA actually caught any real terrorists, or provable wannabes before they did any damage, during the time it has existed? Or any of the other similar systems in different countries? I can't remember ever reading a single news item of something like that, there have been a few along the lines of something or other found in carry on luggage, but never any real proof the person actually may have intended to do some mischief with whatever, all cases seem to have been, most likely, just people who forgot to go through their luggage thoroughly enough.

  5. I'll say what I say whenever I comment about the TSA. My rage makes it too hard to be more articulate than this:

    Fuck the TSA.

    That is all.

No, they have not. They have however molested a uncountable number of children and old people.

  7. The TSA is utterly useless. The idea that they should be bothering Amtrak passengers is hilarious, were it not for how badly Amtrak is already treating those passengers, I'd be concerned.

  8. Most of those people sought the gentle (?) embrace of Amtrak rather than suffer the inhospitable indignities of the TSA, but now there is no escaping their grasping, clutching fingers and prodding hands.

  9. I recall the non-presence of TSA being one of the best parts of our trip to New Orleans on its eponymously-named train a couple of summers ago. I mean, you had to have a ticket to get on the platform in Chicago and NOLA both, but other than that the Amtrak cops pretty much left us alone.

Unfortunately, I have to fly to Florida on Saturday. *sigh*

  11. I'm trying to think of a notable difference between TSA and cancer, but nothing's coming to me. Both are mindless organisms with an out of control growth rate that will eventually kill the host.

  12. @Old Radar Tech:

That really isn't an apt comparison. Cancer patients can sometimes beat cancer. There is no evidence to suggest that TSA agents are being beaten, yet sadly that should be the case.
