Summertime in SoBro...

I was informed that I would need a headlamp with red or green LEDs for the Crimson Trace match. Seeing as how I didn't own a headlamp of any kind, this was an excuse to pedal down into Broad Ripple Village proper and hit Rusted Moon Outfitters, where I picked up one of these.

And since it was lunchtime, the Broad Ripple SUV somehow magically steered itself to the Brewpub...

...where I enjoyed their steak ceviche salad and the house IPA, while reading a cheerful little book entitled Secret Weapon: How Economic Terrorism Brought Down the U.S. Stock Market and Why It can Happen Again.

  1. Tam, BlackDiamond makes some decent headlamps. I have one myself that I use for hitting the trout streams at night, amongest other uses.

  2. BE sure to try it our for some extended time before committing to it. I've found that the headlamps without the strap that runs from the lamp over the top of your head to the back tend to be less comfortable and to move around, usually just when you need it to stay still.

    But 90 lumens? Sweet!

  3. Much cooler looking than my Browning model.

First rule of night matches is do not shine the 150 lumens of joy in the range officer or other shooter eyes during the event. They will still be pissed long after they stop seeing the spots floating in their vision.

If you do, don't worry, it will happen several time during the night.

  6. Re Freeholder's comment, can you mount it to your hat? Might have to wear it backwards, to get the beam(s) to hit the ground close by.

  10. Um, darlin', do you mean the headlamps were to be in the colors or that the LEDs were to be in the colors? The link indicated that the headbands were in the colors, but you might need to swap out the LEDs proper. I'm sure that Bobbie X could give you a hand with that, the colored LEDs can be had at any
    Rat Shack.

  11. The listing at Crimson Trace gave a hint that colors of illumination would be significant, but were rather cryptic. Must be some l337 gunnie code that I don't have...
