What media bias?

Remember back during the Bush administration, how every time the US deathometer in Iraq was about to roll over another even thousand, the media would count down to it like some ghoulish Dick Clark New Year's Eve special, waiting for the ball to drop?

Did you hear what happened last month in Afghanistan? Yeah, me neither.

  1. I have a co-worker who, once upon a time, worked for the local CBS affiliate. I got real sick of hearing "it's not bias, it's just ratings".

  2. I actually did hear that, but it was mentioned by another blog that mentioned how it wasn't mentioned by the media.

  3. Ah, crap. I'm going to have to start watching the news again just to see if the "bias" complaints are legitimate or not.

  4. And the plight of the homeless has been mitigated for the duration, too. Unless they're sponging off the noble and forward-looking Occupiers.

  5. Well, they can't report it because it was the previous administration's fault. And you can't actually hold the administration to their promises since they inherited a situation that was worse than they expected, it existing in the real world and all.

  6. We also won't hear about how there have been more deaths in Detroit over the last 10 years than soldiers in Afghanistan.

  7. Which is more deadly to U.S. citizens, a weekend in Kabul or a weekend in Chicago?

  8. MSDNC doesn't even try to be subtle about it anymore. Everything they... report should be prefaced with "This just in from David Axelrod..."

I have a friend who moved to Detroit (for family reasons) after doing a year's contract hitch in Afghanistan. He says the rounds per minute count is about the same, but the rules of engagement are looser in Detroit.

  10. I 'knew' but then I have some other folks keeping me up to speed... Having said that, you ARE correct about the bias, and game playing going on in the media!

  11. Tam - O/T, but you should know.

IOWAHAWK: Scandal: Romney has a Swiss bank account valued at 6 milli-Solyndras.

This via Puppyblender, but it seems that your unit of "KiloSagan" is in danger of being replaced.

I, of course, shall prefer your usage when appropriate for scale.

  12. Isn't it obvious at this point tht they don't care? It was just that the "other team" was doing it that they didn't like it. I notice that Cindy Sheehan has totally been active since Obama got elected.

If Obama had started the Iraq war instead of Bush, you'd have a bunch of conservatives universally lamenting it and calling it patriotism to be against it, and the libs would be calling all of THEM unpatriotic traitorous douchnozzles.

They don't care about the folks in Guantanamo. They don't care about American troops dying. They don't care about any of the things that they'd been railing against up until four years ago except for what those things gave them in political terms.

I'd call that evil, but I'm predisposed to hyperbole sometimes.
