- Off the shelf: The World's Worst Warships: The Failures and Repercussions of Naval Design and Construction, 1860 to the present day
- The Braves lost. Couldn't seem to get a hit with less than two outs, and then their bullpen blew up. I has a sad.
- MattG on the militarization of the police.
Curse! The book is not available for the Kindle.
ReplyDeleteNor is it available from the Martin Luther King County Library, so now I haz a sad, too.
ReplyDeleteDoes it have those WWI Austro-Hungarian battlewagons with water-tight compartments that ran fore-and-aft as well as port-starboard, thus ensuring that one side will take on more water than the other, thus ensuring that the KuK Navy would continue to get no respect...?
I think JayG was saying he just had a pajama-only day.
ReplyDeleteCcincidence?
Oops, not JayG, but Chance B. Sorry about that. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteHopefully it's better than "The World's Worst Weapons" that I got off the bargain rack at Barnes & Noble.
ReplyDeleteApparently the AK-47 is in the top 10 worst weapons ever, since it is too innacurate to hit anything under any corcumtances and it is of simple construction. Who knew?
Did that book include LCS? If not, it should have... Glad you had a lazy day!
ReplyDeleteLazy Bike Commuter,
ReplyDeleteCompletely different kind of book, despite the similarity in titles.
NFO
ReplyDeleteI agree should include FFG CG 270 and NSC "hole in the water which a fool pours in (taxpayers) money"
The double round-tripper-bobblehead-chippapallooza was supposed to tide you over through the odd rough patch. Just sayin' :-O
ReplyDeleteI'm a Cracker, yet I'm for the Twins and anybody playing the Braves.
ReplyDeleteThe book was First Edition edition (February 2002). Written a little early, I think. They should have waited for these new Freedom and Independence classes of littoral craft to be launched.
ReplyDeleteDang it Tam...another "gots to have" book. Ummmm...want to sell your copy???? :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to know what the weakness was for the Yamato...perhaps not enough AA? The Bismark having only one easily jammed rudder would be my guess for that ship.
ReplyDeleteLCB,
ReplyDeleteNah, this one's going into my lieberry.
You just can't read about HMS Captain or the USS Vesuvius too many times.
Tam:
ReplyDelete:-)
I've already found a "very good" used copy via Amazon...once again...thanks for the pointer.
New copies are selling for outragous prices...geeze...
I was wondering why the author didn't just list the active ships in the French Navy circa 1895 and call it done.
ReplyDeleteIt seemed to me that he wanted to spread the hate around to other ships that didn't deserve it as much as others, to cover more time and nations. (I might be biased, being a fan of the HMS Powerful...)
