They go "ping" and are never seen or heard from again. The gunsmith on the other hand can be heard by those on the firing lanes through shooting headphones and automatic fire.
When I first took my M&P 9mm to the range, I noticed that the rear site was loose. Fortunately, I didn't have any Loc-tite with me so I had to wait until I got home to remove the site and apply some. Finding that little disk in my basement was a lot easier than it would have been at the gravel range.
