Sometimes the jokes write themselves...

"Indiana University Students Go On Strike; Bloomington Pizza Delivery And Retail Marijuana Industries Collapse"
You would think that someone smart enough to go to college would realize that when you stop purchasing a good or service, it is called a "boycott", rather than a "strike", but there you go.

  1. It's hard to declare solidarity with the oppressed proletariat if you start by acknowledging membership in the bourgeoisie. It completely deflates l'esprit de la révolution, and then the giant puppets and drum circles just don't have the necessary authenticity, you know?

  2. In breaking news IU annouces that the new University President will be the late S. I. Hayakawa.

  3. So, it's a strike when students refuse to accept a service (walking out of class) that they have already paid for?

They aren't very good at this, are they?

  5. George, we don't have a word for refusing to use a service you paid for ... other than "moron".

  6. Indeed Robin.

Paying for a product and then not using it isn't a boycott.

Stop going to all the classes you want kids, if you already paid your tuition the University doesn't care.

That's like refusing to watch TV and continuing to write Comcast a monthly check.

    That ain't gonna hurt 'em.

  9. As someone that grew up in Bloomington, I can say you gave the students' collective IQ too much padding. I was in high school during their "shanty town" days.

  10. So now I am reminded of Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy and the philosophers' strike...

Vroomfondel: We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty!

  12. I think you are over-estimating the intelligence of the University administration. I suspect the University administration is just as dumb as the brain trusts that came up with the idea of a student strike. There will be much howling and fretting about the "graduation rate" and "something will have to be done".

  13. Silly brats have overplayed their hand. Don't they know that France is the only place where the unemployed and unproductive can go on strike and get taken seriously?
