Brrr...

My WeatherChannel.com window tracks the temps and WX at Roseholme Cottage, Nerd Ranch, and Castle Frostbite.

Despite the first two turning in current temps of 14°F and 262.6°K, respectively, Castle Frostbite manages to live up to its name, with a current outdoor thermometer reading of -24.4°C. Marko doesn't call it Upper Cryogenica for nothing...

  1. Manda said it was about -20 the other morning when she woke up. It's been around 30 here in the mornings... not too bad, but the power cut out at 0600 or so, and the tent doesn't hold heat.

  2. Wow. Yeah, Marko can keep those temps tohimself.

  3. To be fair, those aren't "regular" nighttime temps for January, not even for Upper Cryogenica. We had some unusually cold air moving in yesterday. Otherwise it's above zero even at night. Now excuse me while I go pry the chickens off their perch with some hot water and an ice scraper.

  4. Marko,

"We had some unusually cold air moving in yesterday."

Frickin' undocumented Canuckistani immigrants. What are we paying the Border Patrol for, anyway?

  5. You sure those Crawling Eyes haven't moved into your area with their attendant super cold air? (The Crawling Eye: ancient horror flick.)

Wow, that's cold enough that you say "ouch" when it hits you instead of "brrrr".

  7. Alamosa, Colorado had its low last night predicted to be -27F. I have not looked up the actual.

  8. Playing with alphabet temps; it's really a toasty -12 (F) Up There.

PB (currently 62F here; need to grab a jacket for work)

    Like *they* needed it.

(Well, OK. At night some global warming would make it more comfortable there.)

  11. It looks like the low in Austin last night was 31 above zero, or about 490.68 rankine.

High is expected to be about 48, and they're talking about maybe some light sleet this afternoon.

Not that I want to gloat or anything, but I would welcome many of y'all if you wanted to move to Austin.

  12. Dwight, Austin is full. As much as I like the people who hang around with Tam, they would need to cull a bunch of hipsters before moving here.

  13. TGAPO,

"...they would need to cull a bunch of hipsters..."

When's season open and what's the bag limit?

  14. And what are the legal methods of take?

I'm assuming no shooting over bait e.g., iPads.

  15. Look at the bright side-- When it's good and cold, there are practically no insects. -- Lyle

  16. Hell I thought hipsters were vermin like groundhogs and coyotes. 365 day season with no bag limit.

That'll leave some scarves for sale on the shelves.
