...remember when the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership* released a First-Person Non-Shooter?
It was a better argument for gun ownership than anything our side has ever done, because people probably went out and bought guns just to avoid being associated with something so painfully unhip and sanctimoniously douchey.
*Thanks, Unc!
Looking over that old thread, something occurs to me.
ReplyDeleteFor all the complaining the Antis seem to do about The Wicked NRA Teaching Kids Bad Things About Guns...
What their own game wants kids to do is exactly what the NRA Eddie Eagle program teaches: Stop, Don't Touch, Leave the Area, Tell an Adult.
Irony.
Apparently, there is an even more tedious video game: Desert Bus. You drive a bus along a straight desert highway for 8 hours IN REAL TIME. Accomplishing this 8-hour task awards you one point. There is no game pause...start playing and you are locked into it for eight hours.
ReplyDeleteSee it here: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/elements/2013/07/the-worst-video-game-ever-created.html
Nuts...I didnt read back far enough.
ReplyDeleteActually, I don't think I ever saw that one... Glad I didn't!!!
ReplyDeleteI missed it too, NFO but I swore off video games after I got my hands on a bootleg, demo copy of Quake II and had to call in sick to work the next day because I had played all evening into dawn.
ReplyDeleteI dabbled a little after that but eventually realized I "have a problem" and am better off if I don't play them.

ReplyDeleteThere's your non-shooting FPS.
=)
Three Things to Do when they see a gun:
ReplyDelete1. Stop
2. Don't touch.
3. Leave the area.
4. Tell an adult.
Yeah, that adds up.
