For what we are about to receive...

That looks pretty ugly right there. Somebody on Facebook was saying the Storm Chaser crew was in town, which is never a good sign.

On the bright side of things, I'm not out on Lake Michigan right now. It's looking positively Gordon Lightfoot-y out there in this radar image.

  1. positively Gordon Lightfoot-y

It's a little sad that, when that phrase becomes the Internet Meme o'the Week as it now inevitably will, it'll be the best thing to happen to Lightfoot's career since the '70's.

I kinda liked him before the Edmund Fitzgerald overkill.

  2. The bad place is that little hook just north of the "op" in Indianapolis. When you see that hook it means trouble.

  3. I laughed at that...ha!...like that...as I drove through it coming back from Cincy on 74.

I am a stone cold badass like that though...

  4. Marine forecast for lake Erie is calling 13-17 footers. On a lake that averages about 32 feet deep...

    Lightfoot indeed.

  7. Yeah ever get to the UP of Michigan, check out the shipwreck museum at Whitefish Point. They show a movie on the E. Fitzgerald. The narrartor says, "No bodies were ever found..." And the song start playing. Made the hairs on the back of my neck stand straight up...

Hope you're OK Tam. Looks like the storm was way more intense for the Indy area than later, when it came through the Dayton area.

  8. IT was.....interesting here for a while.

Temp dropped 26 degrees in half as many minutes.

You can figure out the rest.

  9. Pull in your ears, keep your heads down, and be prepared to cap out in the basement.
Stay safe, I actually got provisional approval to hit the NRA convention...

  10. Indy is looking clear.
The northern Lower Peninsula, and eastern UP, including, ironically, Whitefish Bay, are not looking so hot right now.

  11. I'm going to have to remember Gordon Lightfoot-y... ;-)

I was on the phone with my parents when it was going through and it sounded interesting. I think my buddy got tornado'd by that little hook up by South Bend.

~70F and sunny in Vegas. I kinda miss those storms, not so fun to clean up after though.

  12. Oh Yeah, and thanks for taking off the captcha thing. My Firefox install made it never work properly here and I missed commenting for a long time.

  13. My son's school is but a shell, getting plenty of airtime on the teewee news.
We live very close to the school, our nearly 200-year-old farmhouse and acres of walnut trees miraculously spared. Parents, neighbors, schools, work not so lucky.

  14. Nothing good ever happens when the cast and crew of them tornado chaser shows come to town.

As one county emergency manager told me after a really bad storm in eastern SD two years ago "You are in for a long day when those guys show up in town."

Glad to hear the Command Post made it through unscathed.

  15. Heh, I was humming that yesterday as I worked on the huge trash maple limb that fell in the storm.
