Dear Rock Island Auction Company,
Could you please try and more closely coordinate your auction dates with my paydays so that I don't find myself thrown into these sorts of quandaries?
Thanks!
-Tam
PS: I would do bad, bad things for that lot.
OMG - a Win 1895 MUSKET!
ReplyDeleteThankfully it's not in the proper Teddy Bear killing caliber of .405 Win, or the wallet could be subject to another round of abuse.
But, in 7.62mm? Could it actually be 7.62x54R? Hooy na ny!
Yup, that's a Russian-contract M1895 military musket in 7.62x54R. It's one of my "grail guns". I wish I hadn't gone searching for it this morning.
ReplyDeleteCrap. You just had to put that link up, didn't you?
ReplyDeleteGo for it!, Of course, that's easy for me to say, it's not my money. And I happen to like ramen.
ReplyDeleteI buy most of my collectible guns at auction. While I have quite a few regrets in the dozen years or so I have been collecting, all of those regrets are guns I didn't buy. I still rue the all matching Karabiner 98 I passed by. And the all correct post 64 Winchester 70 target rifle. And the perfect Persian 98/22 and Argentine 1909 that sold on the same auction. And the.....well, you get the idea.
Rob
CITB?
ReplyDeleteMore will appear.
ReplyDeleteThe Russian.gov has been releasing a few each year for sale in the US.
You must get paid more that me as it would take a whole bunch of my paydays to clear one of those.
ReplyDeleteStill, I sympathize with the too much stuff to buy and not enough money to go around.
Damn it. And they are in driving range. Sigh, never enough money.
ReplyDeleteSeems like many of the listings in this auction are multiples.
ReplyDeleteDo a S&W 686 search and it's hard to find just one. Most are 2 or 3 guns together.
Auctions are never CITB. Still, I may yet throw a token bid...
ReplyDeleteDamn, 54R... that'd make a nice safe-mate for all the Mosins.
ReplyDeleteI feel you. The nib poly sidefolder I dumped for project 1919 is on the block...and dude is offering it to me at the "friend" price I gave him. I'll never find one this cheap again. Argh!
ReplyDeleteI'll see what we can do. ;)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thanks for checking out the auctions.
