December 7th.

Sixty-five years ago today, December 7, 1941 -- a date which will live in infamy -- the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

God bless ya for remebering all of those men and women that served and died on that day. For all that fought and died after that day to make sure that we stayed the land free and the home of the brave.

And if it had happened today, on December 8th, there'd be protesters out there chanting "Stop The Imperialist War Machine" -- and mean America, not Japan. (And someone would be claiming the attackers weren't Japanese planes, but American fighter jets and it was all big hoax.)

PS: When I went to the link Bobg posted, the ad read "Find an English speaking optometrist in Tokyo".

Mr. Irony wins again.

So I'm at the post office this morning standing in line. As I walked in I saw the flag at half-mast for December 7th.

A guy comes in about my age (60), pushes to the head of the line, and demands to know who died that the flag was at half-mast.

The clerk told him that today was December 7th...and responding to a blank look the clerk told him that it was Pearl Harbor Day.

The guy then harrumphed 'Oh, I thought someone died', but left quickly after I whispered deafeningly 'Someone did die, you fucking moonbat'.

I'm finding it difficult to be civil with moonbats lately.
