Probably the most disturbing part of the whole thing, at least to me, is this:
Derrik Snell, who works at the tattoo parlor, said Spears showed up without notice and stayed for about 90 minutes as about 60 fans, photographers and gawkers gathered outside. In other words, the word that Britney was inside the tattoo parlor was enough to cause otherwise-sane passersby to stop and gawk through a tattoo parlor window as though there was some spectacle worth seeing in there.
I don't get it.

There was always a girl like her in each of the trailer parks I lived in as a kid. Boys flocked around like she was in heat!
You never marry a gal like that, but you sure learn a enough to help keep the wife happy later on.
"Hmmmm. Let's see. I've already married and divorced a hideous scumbag. I've born his two children and demonstrated a disturbing lack of understanding in basic parenting skills. I've hooked up with fellow members of the skank brigade to make news by baring my ill-used crotch. What can I do now to grab any more attention for myself. Hey! You over there! Can I borrow those clippers?"
I'd love to join in the mockery of Britney Spears, but I'm having trouble finding anything funny in round-the-clock, live coverage of somebody's nervous breakdown. What a pathetic spectacle.
If that is "celebrity," you can keep it.

Rich white trash is still...well, you know.
To buck the tenor of the thread:
"Freedom begins when you tell Mrs. Grundy to go take a hike."
Maybe - just maybe - this young woman who was thrown into being the beat-off babe of the 90s is saying "Stuff You" to the system that spawned her. Maybe - just maybe - she's telling Mrs. Grundy to go take a hike.
It's nice to think that she's got a brain in there - malfunctioning through consistent abuse though it may be - and she's just saying "I'm not playing your game anymore".
Or she could just be an attention-grabbing gobbaloon. But, y'know... "This I Beleive."
I do believe Ms. Spears' behavior demonstrates her economic condition is a couple of dollars past The Stupid Line.
(Sometimes expressed as "Too much money starts affecting your common sense.")
