Glad that wasn't me.

Yep, at some point the mindless bloodlust subsides, and things come into some form of balance and harmony. Peace reigns throughout the kingdom of the mind. I know his quandary. I've walked the logging roads of Louisiana's bayous and come face to face with trophy deer, only to nod with still shouldered rifle as they amble into the thickets. Just seemed the right thing to do...
OF course the full freezer just "might" have a little bit to do with it...
We often have to shoo whitetail deer away from our shooting range in south-eastern Minnesota. What's really funny is to watch them just kind of hanging around the little valley while people are sighting in their deer rifles. They'll walk right in front of the backstop, and everybody will pause and make-safe while somebody has to run down and chase them off (we usually post new targets, so the time isn't completely wasted).
The biggest tame herd on the Western Lake Erie shore is at...Camp Perry. It's mortifying.
The eagles will land right on the thousand-yard range, too.
