If I don't get a lot written today, it's this guy's fault.
I managed to exercise epic self-control and do no more than just slice the tape on the box last night, because I knew that actually opening it would put paid to my laundry chores. However, now I've actually sat down to hook it up and slay some pixels.
More later...

Will I have to say that I liked your blog quite a bit, back when you were writing it?
WV: "bratalat." Served at Starbucks in Wisconsin?
What game(s) you get?
Tried the link, my antivirus warned me that it was a dangerous site.
I lurve my Gen-1 Xbox. The very best game for it is Crimson Skies, which if you want my copy I'd be happy to trade it in exchange for holsters and a draft pick to be named later.
I just ordered another X-Box to use as spare parts since my DVD drive went south. $50 for a gently used model these days. I may pick up a PS2 since they're down to $99 and still have a metric ton of games available.

You can't run off before you at least tell us what you're playing!
I can unhesitatingly recommend Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Phantom Crash, Forza Motorsport, Halo 1&2 and Ninja Gaiden.
Also, if you can find a Logitech wireless controller somewheres, buy it. Best ur-Xbox controller evar.
Wolf,
Second person that said they got an antivirus alert.
Hum...
I guess I will have to look around. But it is just a blog running expression engine...

Box needs a WoW client ... then the destruction of your free time will be complete.
If you have the room for the controller (and if used copies aren't too expensive) I'd look for a copy of Steel Batallion. It's as close to piloting a mech as you can get without being an angsty Japanese teenager, and the completely ridiculous controller (pedals and a 3 part joystick with dozens of buttons and switches, and an actual start up sequence) just adds to the experience.
Personally, I recommend Advent Rising, Chronicles of Riddick, and Burnout (any of them).
And that you kiss your spare time good-bye ;).
ZOMG I forgot about Steel Battalion! It was way out of my price range when it was new, and it's only got more expensive as the ridiculously fragile controllers get older and breaks. But holy crap that was a hoot, even if the learning curve was on the steep side.
"Why does it have six pedals if there's only four directions?!"
Full Spectrum Warrior. A quirky title where you play as squad of soldiers. The quirky part is you get to give orders, but never pull the trigger. The game is about tactics and orders.
The Brothers in Arms series has a similar tactical interface but I like FSW better.
Seconding the Riddick game. Much better than the movie.
Full Spectrum Warrior
Loved, loved, loved that game, and the sequel, 'Ten Hammers', was even better.
Between you and me, Overload, I think we were the only ones. When I finally got an Xbox some years ago, there was nobody online for that game at all, ever.
Get Halo. I've played it so many times (on the old XBox and the new XBox360) that I could practically run through it blindfolded.
However, you need the 360 in order to play the other 3 Halo titles. Fun times to be had!
