TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) -- A man wearing an explosives-laden belt blew himself up during a conference between Shia and Sunni groups in southeastern Iran on Sunday, killing at least 29 people.Okay, that sounds about par for the course for that neck of the woods. Nothing to see here; move along... Then comes the plot twist:The blast in Sarbaz in the province of Sistan-Baluchestan wounded 28 others, the semiofficial Fars news agency said.
Five senior officers of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard Corps were killed in the attack, Fars said.
While no one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, Iran pointed the finger at the United States without disclosing its reasons.Oh, yeah, Zippy, that one's got our fingerprints all over it. What was the giveaway? The way the guy was humming snatches of "Yankee Doodle" between shrieks of "Allahu Akhbar!" right before he pulled the pin on his Semtex Underoos?
"We consider this recent terrorist act to be the result of the U.S. actions and this is a sign of their enmity," said parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.

Well, he was red, white and blew. :)
I guess Obama will have to go apologize for it.
Dear Mr Ali Larijani:
If America ever decides to bomb your sorry ass, a) we've got better hardware to use than a dead-end loser who's only been romantic with the village goat, and b) you won't have to wonder who did it.
Much love,
Unca Sam.
It's called engagement.
You wouldn't understand. It's a complicated process full of personal disclosures and accusations, but in the end Robin Williams' character says "It's not your fault!" over and over again, and then Ahmadenijad starts crying.
I guess that since MoveOn.org and Democratic Underground persuaded folks that Katrina was all Bush's fault, the same sort of thing would work in this instance. Now we have some idea of how they spend their Internet time.

In some places it's still OK to play the "it was the foreigners" card. Dictators need their enemies.
I think they don't realize that we feel that life is precious (especially our own) so suicide bombing just won't become a modus operandi for Americans.
But like Ritchie said, dictators also need to maintain a common enemy against which to unite their people.

I don't know the why, but offing the leadership in the name of economy of force is good tactics anywhere.

Back at ya, Iran.
Blaming the great satan is good PR, while the internal political machinations rumble along out of sight.
Since muslims invented everything I tink we ought to bring in the closet muslim, Al-Occam, and his magic razor to bear on this.
( I wouldn't mind seeing the CIA this devious and efficient, but I just don't believe it.)
"Loss of innocent life"?
I'm willing to bet there were no innocent people killed, or wounded.
And how could the US have been involved, don't they know Barry got the Noble Peace Prize?
Anonymous 9:07 a.m., you dog you. That was so bad I'm going to steal it shamelessly.
Thought: It might not be a bad idea for somebody in the military to drop a hundred thousand or so captured AK's and 5 or 10 thousand RPG's on the Baluchis.
Not that the present administration would have the cookies, but if we sold them to the Israelis to "equip their homeguard" for a dollar apiece and shipping costs, and the Israelis happened to misplace them eastward....
Jut as a matter of curiosity, was The Essplodee a Shia or Sunni?? Knowing which would go a long way toward finding the real villain in this case.
And if the U.S. HAD been involved, there would have been a MUCH bigger crater. I mean, if you're going that far to make something go boom, you might as well make the trip worthwhile.
Probably would be glowing at night to remind them that the Great Satan really is...
{Yawn}
They've taken this from the playbook of Adolf and his gang.
Don't these asshats know that we've documented the Reichstag Fire incident?
How can we continue to take them seriously?
I often fantasize about becoming a suicide bomber.
But when I sit back and really think about the possibility of some of that shrapnel hittin' my trouser junk, it usually snaps me right out of it.
72 virgins ain't worth much without trouser junk.
Hey, every region and nation has its own colorful, traditional events. To pick a few out of many: we grill burgers and watch football, the British have cricket, and in Iran they kill people and blame the U.S.

Dropping AKs and ammo? Too obvious.
What we need to do is get the Baluchi's and the guys up at Kyhber Pass to hang out for a couple months, then air-drop a couple tons of scrap steel, decent hammers, and a bunch of charcoal and coke. Ammo, they'll figure it out (flashing, dead car batteries, some local fluffy weeds, arm&hammer, and... ok, so they'll have to source nitric acid, but that doesn't take a rocket scientist).
Er... ok, so maybe a rocket scientist is a damned handy thing to have when hunting HNO3, but not required. Nothing like a little RFNA/DMH hypergol morning wakeup call. Why stop at making small arms?
"What was the giveaway?"
Ummm, maybe the ex-U.S.Special Forces guys sitting on a hilltop in Afghanistan teaching Iranians about explosives?
Shootin' Buddy
Isn't teaching Iranians about suicide bombs kinda like teaching Russians how to get drunk or Englishmen how to make bland food?
The idea that Iran has a home-grown terrorist/resistance movement against the Mullahs apparently never crossed your mind.
You can bet your asses U.S. of A would team up with cannibals(and those are just a lil' bit islamic and sunni, which is okay with the US probably, since it's friendly with the Wahhabis..) if they were anti-Iranian and shown some promise.
Why wouldn't they give support to group that is not overtly US and that is anti-Iranian? It's called deniability. Had a B-2 dropped a ton bomb on them, it'd be kind of unsubtle.
Islam is the new "communism", and USA teamed up with some pretty savoury characters in the past to combat the red scare...
I can't know for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was U.S. support. I mean, what can you expect from a gov't of a country that put Dick Cheney of ciproflaxin three weeks before the anthrax attacks..
Is Fars pronounced "farce", perchance?
