So, OK has a historical presedent to fall back on. That will make it much harder for the federal government to kill this.
I'm not going to hold my breath that they will get this off the ground, but it sure will be instructive to see what the Obama administration does with it.
One of the biggest tendencies we have as humans is basing our expectations of tomorrow on the events of yesterday.
There were people who urged Lincoln not to abandon the Whigs for the upstart Republicans, I'm sure, and I'll bet a bunch of people went to bed on Dec. 19th 1860 thinking that tomorrow would be just like yesterday, too.
One big difference: people who were living off the Soviet government largesse had a dismal and falling standard of living. Americans who live off of Federal largesse are the wealthiest poor people in the world, with every expectation that The Obama will grant them Ever Greater Blessings in exchange for their Unwavering Hope.
One thing that could really alter the map would be a fiscal collapse of the US .gov. A $2K disability check might not be such a hook any more, if it takes $4K to buy a loaf of bread.
In the end, the federal government's strength rests on people's addiction to Social Security, Medicaid, AFDC, etc. When those programs collapse under the weight of their own fiscal unsustainability, things could get interesting.
What if two suns come up somewhere? Since as the Narrative has it, it's not going to go out with a Bang but a whimper - exactly as the Won Agenda drives it down - I expect something like Argentina (or the movie Brazil), with certain global fat-cats getting even fatter. Never let a crisis you can exploit go to waste.
This subject was gist for much discussion this afternoon on one of the local talk radio stations that I listen to. One thing that was brought up was that there is in fact an Oklahoma law on the books authorizing such a State Militia force seperate from the Oklahoma National Guard and not subject to Federal authority. But that entity has not existed for many years.
I headed up my department's security detail for a gubernatorial debate held in our jurisdiction just last week. The AP article quotes Senator Randy Brogden (who already has my vote based on his legislative history in the Oklahoma Senate). Had I known of this, I would not have been able to resist asking him about it while standing around with him prior to the debate.
OK may well have a state law that details a state militia force seperate from US federal control.
Unfortunately, since every member of eth OK state militia is probably ALREADY a member of teh national militia, as a military counterbalance to federal overreaching, eh, not so much.
"Militia stuff" is one of the things actually IN the Constitution, so no hope in the 10th Amendment. . .

Founding Dude: So tell me, in your time, whose philosophy ultimately prevailed: the Federalists or the Anti-Federalists?
Time Machine Dude: Anti-what-now?

Eh. The sun'll come up tomorrow (no showtunes intended), so no matter what happens we've at least got that to work with.
A)Implosion of the federal government AKA USSR
B)Civil War AKA 1861
C)French Revolution
D)Cultural Revolution AKA China
E)Unicorns and rainbows
I pick E and prepare for the rest.

The sun'll come up tomorrow...
I've read too much SF to be terrifically confident of that, either. ;)
From Joe in PNG:
Yeah, Tam, how long have the Celestial Saucer people been working on Plan Ten, anyway?
Eros is right- We're stupid, STUPID!
Feh! Googledeglock!
Maybe sol rises, maybe sol explodates. Bothwise there is profit to be angled.
