I just got one a couple of weeks ago and it's way geeky to be able to know what you thought you knew.
Also, invaluable for reloading.
That being a Chonograph.
1) TSA isn't in Afghanistan
2) Theater gateway isn't in Afghanistan - it's at Ali Al Salem in Kuwait. Soldiers don't go through any security checks in Bagram or Kandahar - they just get on a plane that takes them and their gear to Kuwait and go through customs/security checks once there.
3) Soldiers go through no fewer than FOUR baggage searches and two pat-downs in Ali Al Salem before they board the bus to go to Kuwait Int'l Airport
4) The security checkpoint at Kuwait Int'l Airport isn't run by TSA - it's run by DoD contractors.
5) Boing Boing is written by a bunch of San Francisco Bay area art-fags. I trust their veracity of military stories as much as I trust Soldiers' veracity on performance art.
6) This urban legend started before I went to Iraq in 2005.
(Bona Fides - two returns from tour and one return while on leave; plus, my job specialty - Human Resource Specialist Platoon Sergeant - includes supervising theater gateway operations, such as exist in Kuwait and nowhere else on earth at present)

I should add that I found the link on Boing Boing, not Redstate. However, the same proves my point that neither publication knows what it's talking about or verifies its sources.
My apologies.

wv: misconci - what I just did.
Are your blood levels too high in your caffeine and sugar stream? That produces similar symptoms in me...
As for suing over artichokes - we have a loser-pays system up here in Alaska. Half the people who come out of the court house think it's dreadfully "unfair" and should be abolished - that being the losing half. On the other hand, we don't have many frivolous lawsuits.
Also in the spirit of "way long shot", are you still getting seasonal allergies and/or do you take any OTC meds for them? I had to find out the hard way that doubling down on the dosage of Tavist D the way that makes Claritin more effective for me was a bad fucking idea... I dropped my blood pressure into the floor and couldn't stand up without fainting for hours.
Ummmm ...
I'd check yer blood pressure.
In order to get an accurate baseline reading ... wait at least 30 minutes after reading anything about .gov, the Federal Reserve Bank, quotes of politicians, etc., ad nauseum.
Hmmm.... You didn't decide to experience a six-pack of four loco last night before the stuff got good and banned, did you?
If so, your first clue was that they sell them singly - not in a six pack.
(j/k)
First the slacker ruse, now the sympathy card...but good snark is hard to find, so just to play it safe, I'll have a word with the (real) One on your behalf. AT
wv: holyist :)
It's contagious? I was reduced to posting a picture of Lauren. I am close to breaking a rule with a stiff shot of Tullamore Dew while alone, just to jog the neurons.
Re: entire artichoke. I used to have a brother-in-law, from Pa. Had no clue on Mexican cuisine. Was given tamales, and tried to eat them CORN HUSK WRAPPER, AND ALL! I don't think he sued anyone.
wv: probsed - what the TSA is doing, given half a chance.
What kind of a horse's ass chows down on something as inedible as artichoke leaves?
Damn, I've seen a lot of hors d'oeuvres that had toothpicks in them, but I've never eaten them. I also don't eat the peel on an orange, so why would anyone be stupid enough to put the munch on something that would be about as appetizing as eating a pine cone?
What College of Idiots awarded him his degree, anyway?
Whoa there, Bob, lets not use such a broad brush :)
I would never have imagined an artichoke was edible at all, if I wasn't shown how when I first came to CA. But no orange peels? Or lemon? Lime? Not even melon? Hmmm, might be an aquired taste. Or being a left handed ADD'd Aspie MIGHT have something to do with it... What, I'm NOT normal? Bwaaahaaahaaa hoho heeheehee...giggle/snort
Just an aside. Its not limited to the TSA. All bureaucracies are the same.
While stationed in Kuwait, Army security changed policies that all those entering Port Al Shuabia had to be wanded and patted down.
So, we handed off our M-16's to a third party and stood in line.... like good little soldiers......
I've asked before, how much MSG have you had lately? I love it, but it makes me feel like I'm having a heart attack.
Meh, you ain't got nothing a good pint of Crown can't cure. Slog 4 shots back, wait for the rush and when you wake up tomorrow with a hangover you can curse me from afar that I suggested it.
Writers block cured, hangover meh, it'll go away.

wv: trance - what you seem to be stuck in.
Here's to you feeling better & recovering in time to enjoy a bit of the weekend.
Tam,
It sounds like you just need sleep. Sounds like you have been working too much and not getting enough sleep. I get like that too, just get some rest and table everything for another day.
Knock back one or six of those caffeinated hooch drinks before they're all gone.
"Demand is through the roof" and frat kids are hoarding it for a big afterparty, proving once again through the highly effective .gov Ban It To Boom It program, that economic stimulation can indeed work, if inadvertently.
I guess soon they'll be muling the shit in from Mexico at five times the price.
Feel better, Tam.
AT
Feel better, Miss.
IF you have had enough sleep recently and this is happening, GO SEE A DOCTOR! This is the second time you've mentioned it on the site. This can be serious if you don't get it checked out. When I don't get enough sleep my eyes tell me I haven't along with the foggy thinking pattern in the brain housing. If the eyes aren't focusing for me but I'm still thinking clearly, it means that I'm spending too much time looking at the monitor at too close a distance.
Seriously, I don't know you personally but I would miss your daily musings if you were gone for whatever reason. Please, get it checked out!
Joe R.
