All those times I've seen people expressing their little emotional hissy fits through sudden outbursts of crappy driving, and I've never seen anything like this.
It's nice to know it happened someplace, though. I'd like to think she learned a lesson from it, but I doubt it. Someone that self-absorbed is probably infuriated at the gas station for putting the pump in her way.
I think my favorite part is how, while there isn't a huge explosion, it does start on fire right away. It's one of those action movie things that you always wonder about, and now I know!
ReplyDeleteAs I have discovered to my chagrin, the exhaust system upstream of the cats is generally toasty enough to ignite petroleum products tout de suite.
ReplyDeleteYou don't often get to see a badly needed comeuppence delivered so quickly..... JohninMd(help)
ReplyDelete"Poor woman...victimized by high gas prices...this wouldn't have happened if our last President hadn't been in bed with the Oil Barons. Its all Bush's fault."
ReplyDeleteSo said the Wookie Progressive...
Why is it that 'stupid', 'selfish' and 'greedy' are so often found as bunkmates in the human species?...

I used to work with a number of people from a certain country who had grown up in said country. They were among the most selfish people I've run across (e.g. while taking them hiking, the decision of what order to be in was the debate of whether they wanted me ahead of them to hope to grab me to on the way down if they fell, or ahead of me so that if they did fall, they could land on me).
ReplyDeleteSadly, this type of behavior makes me think our country isn't as far ahead of them on the selfishness scale as I had thought. I DO love the instant karma though!
Actually, my favorite part is how the cashier is absolutely unfazed by the whole thing. I've worked at a convenience store, and while I've never had a pump fire I doubt I'd be surprised by it.
ReplyDeleteI can't side with you on this one, Tam.
ReplyDeleteIt is obvious that she was driving along, just minding her own business when all of a sudden this gas pump just leaped out in front of her.
Not that I should be surprised by anything done by someone who would drive into a gas pump, but: why the hell didn't she back away from the burning gas. Might have reduced the damage to the car from "totaled" to "aw shit". It would seem to be a safer move than opening the car door also.
ReplyDeleteNorth, that's what my wife would say. I mean, she wouldn't have broken out her taillight if that darned dumpster hadn't leaped out at her when she was backing up, either.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the real victim of this fiasco, the Jeep.

If only the bitch, Karma, hadn't gotten wasted while selling drug paraphernalia in the 80s and 90s, we'd have the fortune of seeing this type of stuff more often.
ReplyDeleteToo bad the doors didn't jam shut
ReplyDeleteThe thing that gets me is the whole "Oh well, f--k it" attitude displayed by both the driver and the passenger over the whole thing (check the slide show and you'll see what I mean).
ReplyDeleteI would love to have answered this call, I'm sure I could have found a way to enhance the karma experience beyond the mere burning up of her car.
Too bad for the station owner, but for some reason I think it is hilarious how quickly the hummer driver un-asses the area.
