That's kinda neat...

One of the unexpected side benefits of the minimalist Merrell Pace Glove shoes?

Well, if you wear straight-leg jeans you can actually change your pants without removing your sneakers. (I mean, should that be necessary for some odd reason or another, you could.)

Sounds like a TV ad idea that would be great for both men and women to watch.

Attractive 20 something woman takes her jeans off with her Merrell Pace Glove shoes on while another struggles with hers and her stiletto heals on. That'd hit about 10 fetishes for the guys and gals would see the utility of the product.

I see no disadvantages in being able to sprint down an alley, many of which have broken glass and stickers and boards with exposed nails in them, while in a state of undress. Being able to keep one's running shoes on while one discards one's trouser's is a triumph of Western civilisation's technology and creativity. Let the ululating hordes of benighted Mohammaden savages match that! Ha!

Yeah, but then you'd get the inside pant legs all dirty with whatever was stuck to the soles of those shoes.

Why was my first thought 'you wear straight cut'? But what about your boots? Are they gone forever? (Not a fetish, honest, just the spirit of comradely inquiry, and are they still... black... and polished!)

I'm getting too old! (possibly exacerbated by the fact that straight-cut make me look like I'm wearing a denim waistband with two threads hanging off the bottom, whilst female acquaintances who do wear them seem to spend inordinately too much time asking whether parts of their anatomy appear inappropriately sized in them)

:-(

And no matter what your answer is, more time is spent defending yourself or your answer or both.

^^This man^^^ has obviously had conversations with women.
Whether they be friends or significant others, the "How do you think this looks?" question will come up.
Tread lightly and carefully with much thought - your survival depends on it.
(and you're still going to be wrong)

An often successful reply to that trap of a question is, "Compared to what?" I'd rather argue straight out than be put on the defensive for an answer.

When asked "that" question by a woman, you have two options:

A. "You make it look nice", even if it they make look like something regrettable. Repeat often enough and they stop asking your (useless but nice)opinion.

B. Be honest. 10% of women will appreciate this, the balance will probably never ask you again. Either of which is fine.

On a more practical note, how tough/durable are those "shoe shaped things"? about the same as normal running shoes?

They seem pricey, I mean for about double that i can get a nice pair of men's leather shoes which I can re-sole for years. Now I see place's I'd prefer those things, but they seem "1 year disposable", that about right? How are then when biking?

I wear Vibram FiveFingers, you can also do the pants trick with those.

You know, I actually was admiring those in Blogorado, but upon checking, their size range seems a bit limited, for the dimensions that I live within. :(

That can be a helpful feature. Particularly since ladies clothing is sized using a random number generator. You've got to try things on before you buy and who wants to take off their shoes in the dressing room?
