Eggs Benedict on the veranda at Good Morning Mama's this morning with Shootin' Buddy and then off to the range!
Still on short rations: Fifty rounds of nine and 240 of deuce-deuce. Hopefully the rimfire situation loosens up before Halloween. Shooting could have been better. Working on speed, but it's hard.
After the range we drove into Broad Ripple proper and got a bite (I had a skirt steak taco) at La Chinita Poblana before heading to see the new Wolverine flick. Thank goodness they made this one; now we can pretend that previous craptastic Wolverineship Troopers movie never happened. This one unsucked.
Ran by the Brewpub for a half-growler of IPA, and I think I'll put my feet up and finish reading Master and God.
A good day indeed, except for the ammo famine.
ReplyDeleteFrom the lady who did the great Marcus Didius Falco mystery novels. I'll give it a try. Also, if you're one of the first in line at Cabela's at 10:00a.m., Tuesday through Sunday, you can get a brick of Winchester 36 gr. high speed hollowpoint in a wooden box for a decent price
ReplyDeleteTam,
ReplyDeleteHave you tried the estore at CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program)? They offer 5000 rds of 22 lr for $280 (shipping included) . The shipping delay is about 60 days. It's one program the. Gov. Hasn't messed up yet.
New wolverine movie?
ReplyDeleteI must be living under a rock....
Your Sundays make me jealous, almost every weekend.
ReplyDeleteMine mostly involve: Getting up and having breakfast with the wife (that's the good part). Then going to to the office, or the home office, or the living room and either writing a thesis/research paper/what have you or grading assignments for the undergrads.
If I had it my way Sundays would be: Get up and have breakfast with the wife. Then head out back to the garage and wrench on the old hot rod for awhile, until lunch. Then maybe I would catch a nap during the hot part of the day and head back out to the garage after supper for some more wrenching until bed time.
But no, I decided to become a paleontologist. Why did I do that again?

Rob, for the glory and money?
ReplyDeleteAccording to the latest email from the CMP, it has around a 27,000,000 round waiting list backorder on the .22lr ammo.
ReplyDeleteThen the last line from the email is, "The next shipment is expected in October 2013.".
However around here (the U.P.) .22's are starting to show up in the stores, they don't stay on the shelves very long, but they are actually getting put on the shelves.
The new Wolverine movie was actually my first experience of X-Men. I probably missed out on a lot because of this, but it was a fun enough action flick.
ReplyDeleteThe Didius Falco books help bring my snarky sneering to new heights. :)
ReplyDeleteFound .22 at one of the local stores, they were getting stocked on Monday nights, and sold out within half an hour of opening, but they've started keeping the harder-to-find calibers behind the customer service counter, so you have to ask, and they'll usually have some left on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteDavis ruined the Marcus Didius Falco stories for me when she started dragging in current politics.
Other than the ammo, sounds like a great day! Glad you were able to enjoy it!
