Because it needed to be honored, that's why.

There is a competition for making Lego dioramas for the chilluns at the State Fair. I'm not sure what age category this youngster was competing in, but if he didn't win a prize for Most Epic, then the judging was rigged.

I present to you "The High Tech Alamo"; you can open it up to its full size so you can bathe in the awesome that radiates from it like heat from a wood-fired pizza oven:

WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN
Note especially the guy in the back row of the attackers, between the shako-wearing mounted dragoon and the clone trooper: He seems to be wearing a blaze orange hunting suit with a gimme cap and a slung quiver of arrows. That's hardcore, man, especially when there's a guy in a black hauberk leaping over the wall at your team while dual-wielding broadswords like a boss; you know those two are slated for the climactic bullet-time fight...

  1. I believe the guy in the hunter orange is actually a Lego X-Wing pilot with a ball cap and a quiver.

    Epic indeed. Rock on kid.

  2. That's just hours of fun adventures packed into a small space, right there! I want to play with it!

As a kid, my first Lego haunted house was based on mystery writer and murderer Mark Hillyer's hilltop mansion The Eyrie, from Robert Arthur's superb "The Glass Bridge" murder mystery. Oh the hours I spent moving the spooky body-with-the-winding sheet through the rooms....

Lego just came out with a ridiculously cool Haunted House kit that I swear was market-tested to be the Eyrie of my mind's eye -- and of every other kid's who kitbashed a haunted house from '70s Lego sets. A twist on "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" -- except this tangible memory retails for $179.

    Those Lego guys are smart.

  3. Hey, the attacking dude in the lower right corner is packing a chain gun! Somebody better nail him, STAT, or this battle is gonna be over before the vorpal blades can even go snicker-snack!

  4. I'm just happy to see the insulator cap of the true Devo-tee standing tall.

  5. My younger son is into both Lego and Minecraft. I showed him a Minecraft Alamo that someone made, and he started talking about doing Valley Forge....

  7. According to the ribbon, his name is Nathan Overstreet and he did win some sort of First Place, although apparently not in the category of Most Epic.

BTW, before the epic confrontation with the Orange Suited Archer, the Black Hauberk will have to confront the ax wielding Gold Helmet in the front row of the attackers-who is also dual weaponed, but I can't make out what weapon is in his left hand.

  8. Kishnevi,

If he wasn't constantly going "Pew!Pew!Pew!Pew!" while putting that together, I'll eat my hat. :D

It ain't the Alamo if the defenders win.
