Power out.
Buildings collapsing in the vicinity.
Flooded roads.
Valuable possessions threatened by rising tide of sludge in the basement.
What am I worried about?
"Oh gawd I hope the smoked salmon I just bought will be okay in the fridge!"
You have to keep your priorities straight.

After all, civilization must be maintained.
Good to know that at least some people out there know what's important.
holy crap!
Well, holy shit, start lifting stuff in the basement.
This is why all the stuff I have in storage is either in cheap rubbermaid bins or off the floor on racks/tables.
Good luck...
If it was properly smoked, and not just with smoked flavoring added, it will last a while, due to the curing.
If you two stayed out of the fridge while the power was off, it'll be just fine.
It's not just the smoked salmon, but also the finely chopped onions, the caviar, the sprig of dill...and some vintage with which to wash it down.
Civilization indeed.
Yep. Once the power goes off, you just have to finish off the chocolate ice cream and single malt scotch as well.
Was that real smoked salmon? Cause it doesn't need cooling, if it just tastes smoked it would. But if I was worried I would sit there in the dark just munching that dead fish down, loving every minute of it. But I can't figure you for a worrier either, that fish was gone by the time the power was restored.
Yeah, I had a similar situation. Exceedingly good corned beef brought all the way from Cleveland was sitting in the fridge for 36 hours with no power.
I just had it for lunch. It was fine, along with everything else I've eaten out of the fridge so far. Even the ice cream in the deep freeze was only starting to get soft.
Ditto jeffro.
You gotta work to get corned beef to go bad.
If it's TEOTWAWKI, you can cook salmon in lemon juice.
...
But ONLY if it's TEOTWAWKI. <_<
