SIGarms is for some reason offering a special "Semper Fi USMC" version of the P238, just like Dan Daley carried when he went over the top at Belleau Wood. Or something.
What, exactly, the relationship is between bitty little .380s and the United States Marine Corps isn't fully explained, actually.
You don't scare me, Private Joker! Work on it!

At least the knife isn't a bayonet.
I can't read this without thinking of the Donald Duck version of that scene.
Once again, Perlhaqr beats me to it.

Here, like my last but with a link which works. Dang it.

As a US Marine, I am going back and forth between wanting one and being insulted. Insulted is winning by a landslide. The Teufel Hunden deserve something a LOT meaner than a pip-squeek little .380. Don't get me wrong, I own a P238 for those times when I need a little something in my pocket and a bigger gun is not possible (which is almost never), but I don't revere it as a tool for war.
I am also wondering if they got the ok from the USMC for this since the Eagle Globe and Anchor do not seem to be on it anywhere. Without the Marine Emblem, it's not really very attractive as "US Marine" schwag anyway.
I guess some will like it, to each his own, but I'll take a pass.

Maybe they are supposed to hang it off their key chain?
"What, exactly, the relationship is between bitty little .380s and the United States Marine Corps..."
Po$er$.

Oh man, that is embarrassing. Leave the peashooters for losers like @AT, above.

I've been seeing those around, and I share the "WTF" thought as well.
My only thought it maybe, somewhere in the halls of history, one Marine officer somewhere carried a Colt Government Model .380?
But that stretch of my imagination doesn't really work out too well, see as the P238 isn't even a Government Model clone.
So my money is the poser market.
Cuing Ed Foster in 3, 2, 1 . . .
Never did I think that Sig would be in the pimp-gun market, but there it is, one with gold leaf-like appointments on it, and another with faux diamond plate on the slide.
What's next, full chrome with gold plating on the trigger and hammer, and naked girls carved into faux ivory grips?
Colonel Cooper is spinning in his grave.
WAIT!
"full chrome with gold plating on the trigger and hammer, and naked girls carved into faux ivory grips"
Now THAT I could like!

WV yansy. Oddly enough, that is actually a (hated) nickname that I was given in grade school. It rimes with my real-world last name. How does wv know these things?
Does not the U.S. Military still issue a personal sidearm to those who have crawled over the rotting corpses of those they have backstabbed on their way to the top when they reach the rank of General? And for decades, was not that sidearm a Colt .380? And, I know it's a movie, but did not George C. Scott (playing the role of George S. Patton) tuck that General's Issue Colt.380 into his waistband (without a holster in the Belly Position! ONe can DIE doing that!) as a backup up, and did he not try to shoot down that pair of Heinkels with that self-same Colt .380? Or was it a Colt in .32?
Or is this whole thing about a Gun Maker trying to separate some Combat Bonus Money from some Jarheads? Your Honor, I rest my case.
I would pay a lot to hear Gunny make "Kinetic Military Operation face" sound like the sort of thing a DI would yell...
Also looking forward to the .mp3 of Iowahawk's "Overseas-Contingencies-Kinetic-Aliocious"
You know, all those overly decorated "commemorative" whatits are at least theoretically qualified for C&R status, if someone bugs the ATF enough to get a ruling. I'm just saying, is all.
You jogged my memory, Tam. That P238 could be used as a hideout gun. A friend gave me a 7.5mm Lefaucheux pinfire cartridge when I started cartridge collecting 50 yeas ago. His father took the revolver and cartridges off a German officer in WW I. It was a tiny folding trigger revolver and looked like this one as best I can remember.

So can a D-Day commemorative Taurus Judge be far behind?
Sometimes you just have to think SIG has some Burns like character whose a MAJOR shareholder who can push them to whatever sillines he deems reasonable, First time I saw their "Golden Dragon" I thought "Wow, someone just sat through a John Woo marathon at the midnight show at the Pijou" Pretty sure they originally came in pairs because dual wielding would be mandatory...
Les, I always thought Patton's belly gun was a Rem 51?

US Marines
We have NOTHING to compensate for.
;)
You didn't mention the knife!!!!
Frankly I was surprised the gun didn't now have a rail and a bayonet.
Pattons Remington model 51 was a gift from Gen K' Joyce ; it was engraved and had custom grips with stars
It's that guy from Kimber again... I always said that flouncy, italic, big-K Kimber script was loafer-light.
It wasn't SIGs idea. It was ordered as a dealer exclusive by Sports South, who I am guessing did not have USMC approval as there is no E.G.& A. on it.
Guessing Sports South wanted to order something from the 1911 line but couldn't afford it?
The .380 pistol isn't the weapon. The Marine is the weapon. The marine will throw the .380 pistol at 1000fps and lodge it in the head of the Terrorist.
Commented by a Soldier, to boot.
Just bought a P238 for my wife, came with night sights, 5 mags, paddle holster and 200 magsafe rounds.
Dude had only fired it 3 times. Sold it to me for $300 bucks total for everything ! Wut an idiot eh.
For meself I like my P220...
As a former 0331, I am really confused by this offering. As others have said, where's the EG&A? .380? I'm not a commemorative guy at all but if you're going to make a commemorative USMC handgun, why not a battered to shit 1911 with sand from Suribachi in it and maybe an accompanying entrenching tool or some old rations?
Og, no Donovan jokes here, please. John and Tam do not recognize the existence of each other.
