Overheard on the Phone:

I'm paraphrasing a bit, but...
Shootin' Buddy: "You know, after all the hype and buildup, the only thing to come out of those 23 executive orders is James Yeager getting his carry permit yanked."

If The Ulsterman Report: REPUBLICAN INSIDER: Obama Livid Over Gun Rights Backlash is correct, a lot more was planned.

Scott_K,

The Ulsterman Report is as true as any Jack Ryan novel.

(It's sorta like poli-sci wish-fulfillment fanfic. Notice how the Ulsterman Report confirms practically every Freeper hypothesis of what's really goinf on behind the scenes at 1600 Penn? How often one reads it and thinks "I knew it!"? That alone is enough to raise my suspicions.)

Shooting Buddy should go on the Piers Morgan show.

Well, he also promised, without mentioning names, to prosecute Eric Holder for Fast and Furious, but I don't think he will.

Link above is to an "[i]nterview with West Virginia Citizens Defense League President, Keith Morgan, on The State Journal's Decision Makers. Originally aired on January 13, 2013. Watch as Keith Morgan repeatedly defeats Bray Cary's empty and baseless arguments on the Second Amendment using facts, logic, and rational arguments."

Of the 23 E.O.'s the only one that will effect criminal activity is, enforcing existing law. I thought he controlled the Justice Department. They certainly haven't been.

I am sure that all of us C&R folks are really happy to see the following listed under BO's suggestions. "Eliminate restrictions that force the ATF to authorize importation of dangerous weapons simply because of their age."

Scott, yeah I'm highly amused that someone let the cat out of the bag about semi-auto technology being over fifty years old.

"Force the ATF to..." I larf.

"...dangerous weapons..." Is GONN! Suppose be dangerous! /Russian accent.

Yeah, he suggested that, but that's all he can do is suggest.

FOPA '86 is statutory, not regulatory; it can't go away without legislation.

Even if he did manage to get importation of various C&R firearms that were such "simply because of age" prohibited, are there actually any more out there?

Seems to me that the various stocks of C&R eligible rifles of anything modern have been depleted for a while, and with the ATF's declaration that "once a machinegun, always a machinegun," it isn't like we're suddenly going to be swimming in inexpensive FALs, G3s, and M14s from the 60s.

Not that I want that rule to stick, I'm just trying to be realistic on the actual impact.

I was kinda hopin' that could be amended to yank Loutenburg's cap on the NFA Registry, but that was before the fertilizer met the ocillator. Aw,well. No full-auto fun for me to own before I croak. Dammit.
I really wish these jackinapes believed in God or Diety du jure, then they might worry about that SPECIAL place on Hell they're building for themselves......

Well, my C&R expired in December. I do miss all of the C&R longarms that were available when I started in 1990, but C&R pistols do show up frequently. Not to mention occasional discounts from vendors, especially Brownells.

I feel stupid.
I fell for the loud, bleating, 24/7, media drum circle AGAIN!
I'm old enough to know better.
Next time I will actually
keep calm and carry on.

Actually, I'm a little concerned about how the Anointed One is using Obamacare to get Gun Control. Imagine you have to go to the E.R. You're filing out Forms, and you get to the Line "Do you have Firearms in your Home? If YES, please list how many and what kind you have. Failure to do so or lying could result in your inability to receive Treatment. All Data given will be shared with the Appropriate Federal Authorities so as to aid in the Prevention of Gun Violence."

Hey, it's about as Crazy as the USDA sending SWAT Teams to bust Businesses who sell Unpasteurized Milk, right?

Or TSA Thugs groping 5 year old Girls.

Nah, it'll never happen.

@ Panamared,

"enforcing existing law." They still seem to be in Affirmative Action/Redistribute the Wealth mode. I am reminded the near-four-year old Hate Crimes bill B. Hussein got last inauguration, that defined you cannot be a victim of hate crimes if you are white, unless you are gay.

Team Obama cannot be seen to waste time on violations of the law unless the victims are clearly Protected Class, and might vote or be shown why they really, really ought to be donating to an Obama campaign.

like those South Korean M1 carbines & Garands?

Geodkyt,

"like those South Korean M1 carbines & Garands?"

Wrong statute.

MAP weapons are covered under a different statute. Further, it looks like the Garands are coming while the (detachable mag) carbines are still hung up and may have to come back as parts kits.
