Ghoulish...
There's a service called InTouch that'll have an AI call your elderly parents if you can't be arsed.
.
Called inTouch, the service uses an AI generated voice so your parent receives a phone call in which they can talk to the AI about, for example, how their day is going, their hobbies, and how they’re feeling. An AI-generated summary of the conversation is then sent to the child or whoever setup the account, and includes a visual indicator of their state of mind, such as “bad mood” or “neutral mood.”

This may not work...
BezosMart grocery delivery services did not have cans of Spicy Hot V8 available so I got cans of V8 Spicy Bloody Mary mix instead.
The jury is still out on the advisability of this call.
Somehow, "Spicy" is hotter than "Spicy Hot".

Persistent...
Way back in... I dunno, probably 2011 or so, I opened a Photobucket account to share a few pictures on a forum that didn't have the ability to host photos itself.
That forum added photo hosting and I pretty much forgot about my Photobucket account.
Over a year ago Photobucket started sending me emails saying that my account would be deleted so I should log in and download my photos. I couldn't even remember what the photos were, let alone my login info, but whatever the photos were, I'm sure I have them on my HDD anyway, so I ignored the emails.
The emails keep coming. And keep coming. And keep coming.
Just delete the account, already, y'all! You're as weird and needy as UberEats!

This tastes like crap...
They found poop in some butter.
Cabot Creamery butter parent company Agri-Mark is recalling more than 1,700 pounds of a butter product over concerns that it could be contaminated with coliform, a type of fecal bacteria.Of course, the FDA is under the umbrella of the Department of Health and Human Services, and between HHS Secretary RFK, Jr. and the efforts of DOGE, it's being gutted, so pretty soon you won't have to worry about them finding poop in your butter anymore.
The company is voluntarily recalling 189 cases of Cabot's 8-ounce Extra Creamy Premium Sea Salted Butter, according to a March 26 enforcement report from the Food and Drug Administration.

Have you changed and grown?
I grew up hip-deep in the Lost Cause mythos. From third grade through high school graduation, I had annual field trips to Kennesaw Mountain and Stone Mountain. It took me a while to dig my way clear of that brainwashing…
I was wrong. I’d been fed bad data. I got over it. You could, too.
So, anyhow, today is the day to dunk on the Silver Medal winners in the Great Rebellion of the 1860s…

Lonely Robots...
I keep getting spam emails from Uber Eats with subject lines like "We've been missing you around here!" and "It's been a while since you ordered from us!" which I find amusing, since I've never once even used Uber Eats and the only reason they have my address is because I use Uber to get to and from the airport a few times a year.

Hot Take on Hot Takes
I am amazed at how many epidemiologist climate scientists who minored in deep-sea submersible engineering are also experts in international trade and macroeconomics.
You’d think that with a broad array of skills like that, more of them would have jobs.

Necessities...
If we are going to live in a modern technological society, the shit needs to get pumped away from your house.
It doesn't matter if someone can turn a profit on pumping the shit away from your house or not, because if your shit doesn't get pumped, we don't have a society.
This is what government is for. If something could be done efficiently and affordably at a profit, we wouldn't need government to do it.

That's a relief...
The day I was supposed to leave for TacCon, I hopped in the Mustang and noticed that the dome light didn't come on.
Dammit, I did not need this. That was a nearly brand new battery and I was sure we had tracked down and plugged the hole in the electrical system where the electrons were leaking out.
Oh, well, there was no time to do anything about it then,
This morning I went outside to hook up the charger to the battery and when I opened the driver's door to pop the hood, I saw the source of my problem: Some real genius had gone out driving the car in the rain last Monday and left the lights on when she got home.
D'oh!

Val has left the building.
Val Kilmer, who passed away yesterday at age 65, was one of my first movie crushes, in Willow. He did a brilliant comedic turn in the Abrahams, Zucker, and Zucker classic, Top Secret. Check out his spot-on timing in this scene...
Of course he was in three gun nerd movie classics: Tombstone, The Ghost and the Darkness, and Heat. His story in this Reddit thread about filming the latter is pretty cool.
I'm going to choose to believe that my AR mag body that was used in the big shootout scene in Heat is one of the ones used by Chris Shiherlis.

- OnlyBots: Dudes suspicious that they'd been talking to chatbots are suing OnlyFans.
- $10k a head to attend a "Meet a Mate" pro-natalist conference? Anybody who signed up for that shindig deserves whatever happens, under the principle that it is morally wrong to allow a sucker to keep his money.

Seriously Uncool
A Maryland man who was in the United States legally was deported to El Salvador and imprisoned there because of an “administrative error,” Trump administration officials said in a court filing on Monday, adding that American courts lacked the jurisdiction to have him released. If only we had a thing called to prevent this sort of fuckup. Maybe we could call it something like, oh, I dunno, "Due Process of Law" or something like that.
The man, Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, had lived in the United States under protected legal status since October 2019. His wife and 5-year-old child are both U.S. citizens.
PS: Who was POTUS when the man was given protected legal status in 2019? Oh yeah.
