A holiday which I don't really understand.

Saturday was apparently International Bacon Day, as in "Remember to eat some bacon today, because it's International Bacon Day!"

To me this is somewhat like saying "It's International Oxygen Day! Remember to use some oxygen today!" I kind of understand what they're trying to say, but I don't really grok it in its fullness.

I missed out!
Roomie was going to cook some today, but we punked out and had some burgers. With tomorrow being show off the ride day, I have a decrepit 82 VW Jetta, yes I AM a Jetta Knight, Diesel burning. I plan to run it on Bacon Grease from the restaurants tomorrow. Today actually!

My car eats more bacon -grease- than I do.

Yesterday I celebrated international bacon, cheese and mushroom casserole day, as well as eat-two-acres of cheesy potatoes day, and steak-the-size of your head day. Today I'm celebrating international quadruple bypass day.

I had pancetta; does that count?

I wonder if this is a sodium nitrate producer's push to increase pork eating in . . places that haven't been eating pork in, oh, thousands of years.

Not knowing there was a holiday devoted to such, when the waitress yesterday asked if I would like bacon on my burger I gave her a look that said "no, I would however like some burger on my bacon."
