As a little kid, before I learned about equinoxes...equinoxii?...and solstices, I divided the year up thusly:
- Spring: March, April, May
- Summer: June, July, August
- Fall: September, October, November
- Winter: December, January, February
Now that I know better, I realize that the early part of September is still solidly in summer (and next week's 90°F highs will sure feel like it) and we're still three weeks out from the autumnal equinox, but it tickled me to know that "
meteorological seasons" are a thing, and the TV weatherpeople are on the same side as six-year-old me.
