Not every day you see a car once owned by a Heinlein character drive past. In fact, it's been almost exactly two years since the last time I saw Sally Rand's old 1938 Packard Darrin Convertible Victoria out and about.
Apparently when it sold for $128,000 at Pebble Beach in 2023, the buyer was local to me. According to her Wikipedia article, Sally Rand was not only a friend of Maureen's in To Sail Beyond the Sunset, but was also the inspiration for a character in "Let There Be Light", the second installment in Heinlein's Future History stories.
Last time I saw it was on an overcast day, shooting the Nikon D800. Yesterday, however, I had the Pentax K7 out on a sunny Thursday afternoon.
