The gift that keeps on giving...

Marion County law enforcement is like a never-ending fount of blogfodder. If it's not IMPD officers getting likkered up and plowing through (and over) the scenery (and the voters), then it's shady dealings in the prosecutor's office.

The latest news is that the former chief deputy prosecutor of Marion County, David Wyser, has been arrested on multiple counts of "How Would You Like To Be A State's Witness?"

Carl Brizzi, former operator of a work release program for drunken prosecuting attorneys and well-known real-estate whiz, as well as being Wyser's old boss, is rumored to be the target of an ongoing corruption investigation.

Because of the federal nature of the offense, he pled to a count of How would you like to be a GOVERNMENT witness.

I lived in Baltimore for a decade, and would sincerely suggest y'all step up your game if you want to compete in the big leagues with the professionals.

There is a reason The Wire and before that Homicide were filmed in Bawlmer. That reason is the infinite amount of material available with which to make murder and drug stories.

On the other hand, here in Austin, Texas, our local District Attorney was caught with a 0.25% Blood Alcohol Content (3x legal), with half a bottle of vodka open on the passenger seat of her car. The subsequent filming of her very drunken "Do you KNOW who I am?!" speech at the booking facility was played nonstop for weeks on local TV and radio.

She was sentenced in an amazingly quick plea deal to 45 days plus probation, a sweetheart deal that about 99.94% of DUI offenders would pay good money to the judge to get.

She recently announced, her jail term over, that she is undergoing some kind of treatment for some kind of unstated problem, after which she will return to full time duty as the Austin DA. Everyone in government is apparently OK with this, despite the police, firemen, truck drivers, etc., who vigorously point out that any of them getting a DUI immediately get a pink slip before their trial, which is usually about a year after the charge and arrest, not mere weeks.

Even down here we have amusing professionals among the enforcement class.
