Han shot first.

Or did he?

Let's see what happens when we splice the Zapruder film back together in the correct sequence:

That's the way I remember it going down.

According to Imperial Police reports, Greedo told Mr. Solo to

Put your hands where I see them now, drop it, get on the ground, get on the ground...

Several witnesses reported that Han looked to be agitated and nervous.

"Take your time, quickly!" Wyatt Earp

Great edit, but Solo's lines couldn't be helped?

Makes me glad I have the original release on VHS to watch it in it's proper form.

Looks to me like a clean shoot. Jabba was a hoodlum and gredo was a bounty hunter. Neither of which are scantioned peace officers. Gredo was a low life scum that intended to kill Han who feared for his life. Clean shoot in my book.

I always wondered why people made such a huge deal out of who shot first when it's clear that none of the weirdos in the Cantina appeared to really give a fuck about the whole thing.

Obviously, Mos Eisly law allowed Han to pay for the dead body removal and go about his way. Not that it mattered anyway, since the local authorities were all occupied with some missing droids or something.
