Overheard in the Office:

Discussing the hog pics in the post below:
Me: "If those big hogs looked familiar, it's because they were the same two we saw at the fair last year. Apparently, it was a rematch."

RX: "I kinda figured. I mean, a hog that big..."

Me: "...you don't eat him all at once."

RX: "You don't look at him all at once, either."

To borrow from a renfair routine:
"But why does he only have three legs?"
"Ah, sir, one does not eat a pig like THIS all at once!"

An Indiana state fair?

Somehow, I missed the news stories of flashmobs beating the fair goers...

Funny, that; and it's in a pretty low income, majority-black neighborhood, too -- a neighborhood where people rent you a parking space in their yard for $5 or so a day, and make (you'll pardon the expression) pretty fair money for those 2.5 weeks. You think that might have something to do with it?

(I guess the city does, as they are talking about banning the practice. Yeah, great, and then what do you get for living next to the fairgrounds? Three weeks of traffic and noise, free for nothing? Such a deal!)

"How dare you get some of the money we want to extor- ah, charge people for parking? WE are the City GOVERNMENT!"

Firehand: the State Fair Board gets the fee for the Fair parsking spots -- and there are not city-metered spaces nearby. It's pure dog-in-the-manger on the city's part.
