Overheard At Work...

Salesguy: "I've got an idea to make a mint. A new menu item at Taco Bell: the goat meat taco. They can call it the 'Chalupacabra'. It's cheap; it's authentically ethnic-sounding; it's perfect. What's not to like?"

Me: "Hell, I'd buy one."

I've eaten tacos and burritos made with roasted kid (goat), they are actually very tasty.

See? It'd be a smash hit.

Taco Hell would totally ruin it though. Eat there for a while, everything tastes the same.

We used to eat stuff like that in south India at the bus-station to Kodai Road, paratas in mutton-juice gravy. Yummy.

Mutton isn't bad, if the tallow is all trimmed off.
One of the tastier things I've had was prairie dog, the way the Navajo fix it. The dog is not dressed or skinned; it is rolled in mud and put in the fire to bake. When it is baked, the mud shell is broken open and it takes the hide off with it, leaving the clean juisy meat. Makes a good lunch when out on the range, since they can be noosed easily by any 8 year old with a bit of patience.

I actually like cabrito every once in a while, and hell, I'd definitely get in line for a Chalupacabra just so I could say it. Chalubacabra. It just rolls off the keyboard in such a lovely way!
and wow, bobg - I thought only the Japanese ate prairie dog.
