Read into that what you will...

Don Henley: "[A] lot of our fans are customers of Wal-Mart"
What are you trying to say, Don?

In his defense, when asked why there was a new album he knew he had an interview to fill up and didn't just say "Royalties from Hotel California aren't covering the Hummer payments anymore." Instead, he nattered at length about how much he hated Bush (thereby keeping his 'Boomer street cred,) how green Wally World is (they only buy Chinese cribs with minimal mercury in the paint,) and how hip and liberal Nashville is (he must be talking about Nashville, California, because the one just down the road is about as liberal as, say, Birmingham.)

bob, you're half right. Another one who checked out and never left...what did anybody see in those guys in the first place? Look up "triangulated California corporate product" and their picture's right there under the Monkees. I was hurt when Joe Walsh joined. And then there's that Jerry Brown thing, the final re-definition of moderan politics. The Eagles shifted their support; it was like watching the old conventions, except with even more expensive hair stylists, and different smoke filling the rooms.

Back before bottom-feeder marketing became so self-aware, discount stores acted as remaindering houses for 'albums.' They had no idea what was on their racks, but the department was big and they were all 88 cents. I scored some wonderful music at K-Mart and Arlan's: Sea chanteys, civil war songs, bluegrass masters on their way back down, garage bands who didn't read the fine-print about "distribution." WalMart's not like that, but then neither is Borders.

I was listening eagerly to a review of that album on the radio the other afternoon. The reviewer, a proclaimed Eagles fan, said "This is the second worst day of my life, right after 9/11/01."

Hyperbole aside, given the clips that he played, he's right. They've got nothing on this album. It's terrible. And that's terrible. If you must buy the album, don't buy it at Wal-Mart-- buy it at the second-hand record shop, where I promise you most of the new Eagles albums will end up very soon.

To speak with Denis Leary, "Don Henley is telling me how to vote? I got two words for you, Don. Joe Fuckin' Walsh."

Two words, heh. The Fuckinwalshes used to work in my neighborhood. Good people.

I forgive Joe Walsh for dabbling: he's been good to life so far. My kinda guy.

Whoa there boys and girls, picking on Henley that way. I personally don't think he is any worse than a bubonic plague carrying rat.

Hate to tell you, Tam, but Trashville is liberal. The folks who live here, no, generally speaking, but this is where Phil der Fuhrer lives, y'know.

john - I was just coming back in here to quote Skid Roper & Mojo Nixon -
"Don Henley must die
Don't let him get back together
with Glenn Frey."

Sick but delightful song. I've been looking for the video for yonks on youtube & elsewhere webwise, and I suspect its existence has been scoured from the aether by the Eagles' record company execs.

Don Henley...feh. Never by God ever listen to anyone talking politics that once paid someone a handsome sum to perm a damn afro upon his head. I ache for the day I meet him just to say "Don Henley! Dude, I loved 'Ride Like the Wind'!" That'll take the damn starch out of his shorts.
