Wonder Weapons!

Seen in comments at Vuurwapen Blog:
I remember a Military Channel special where they rated CQB weapons.

The show placed the Kriss in first place over the likes of the Uzi, MP5, P90, & MP7.
Let's not forget that, while the shows may be interesting and explosion-filled, the Military Channel is owned by Discovery Communications, television's leading purveyor of documentaries on the sex life of Bigfoot and how Hitler's time-travelling ghost helped space aliens build the pyramids.

Huh, I didn't know that. Now I'm going to have to see when they will air that one again. Although I did think the show on Bigfoot's sex life was pretty interesting.

I really need to get a life.

You know, I love my Kriss, as uselessly Semiautomatic as it is. *I* find it attractive and fun to shoot, as do most of the people I hand it to.

I don't operate outside of my own mind, and the life I will give my Kriss as a Home Defense weapon will never stretch the thing beyond the limits of what it can do. I totally get it's not for everyone, and I'm glad to see there are plenty of realistic articles on it that aren't all fanboi (leave those to me), but it bothers me to see anyone defend it as if their personality is tied into it being TEH MOAST AWESOMEST THING EVAH!!!!

Sorry, but the F/A Uzi is the best CQB weapon of the bunch based solely on the fact that it was the only one that I could afford.

unless I'm mistaken, the Kriss is the only one of those that is a 45; so duh

When CQB and Kriss was mentioned I thought someone finally looked at short-swords as proper CQB weapons. Then I realized Kris was mispelled KRISS. I think the Kris might make a pretty good CQB weapon except CQB appears to be regulated to firearms only.

FWIW, I beleive the best CQB weapon is the one you have on you at the time the CQB starts. Most likely it will be an issue weapon, one size fits none, selected for it's cost more than anything else.

Does that mean the holocaust stems from Pharoh's order that the slaves who worked on the pyramids be put to death?

Boy, Egyptology hasn't been kind to Exodus, has it?

That list is obviously FUBAR. A list of the ultimate CQB weapons that doesn't include Chuck Norris? Just silly.

A recent episode of Rapid Fire on the Outdoor Channel put the Kriss up against a 1928 Thompson. The Thompson was the winner. The Kriss had numerous failures to feed.

The ultimate CQB weapon is one round of 120mm HE fired into the front door, followed by a round of Willie Pete.

Okay, what gun for mummified pharoahs and hitler's time traveling ghost?

Hint: it ain't a KRISS.

As for CQB, you run whatever you have with you when it starts. A 1911A1... maybe a pair of 1911A1's, though not Hollywood style... comes readily to mind and hand.

mustanger - "...a pair of 1911A1's, though not Hollywood style". See Bruce Willis in Last Man Standing. A version of Yojimbo or A Fistful of Dollars set in the Depression.

If you are going to fight mummies, you need a pair of Chamelot-Delvigne Model 1873s.

I had to comment because my captcha was "dangerous tsa miss" I typed underwear bomber and got rejected. As for the KRISS, I was in a machine shop in ~2007 when they were proto-typing this weapon. The concept really is awesomeness on ice cream and I'm sure it will eventually surpass all previous semi-auto designs for SMG's.

Let me guess, you're also sure fusion power generation is less than 10 years away.

Since I don't want to get into a snark competition with the Mistress Thereof, I follow with an honest question. Have you ever played with a well-designed SBR with a can? Other than cleaning it, THAT is awesomeness on ice cream. :)

Discovery Channel is also the clowns who cancelled Dirty Jobs, because 'it doesn't contain enough drama'.

Best weapon for CQB. A squad of Force Recon Marines.

After that I will take, a squad of CNN and MSNBC reporters for $400, Alex.

I don't know what "CQB" really means, at least not to a "civvie" like me. All I can translate it into is minute of bad breath. At which point which buzz gun is best at what distant seems a lot less relevant. So, I guess for me the best CQB weapon is still the one betwixt my ears and beneath my coiffure.

There I go, being logical again.

I got to shoot US Citizen's semi-auto Kriss at Gun Blogger Rendezvous V, and it was fun. I did, however, need help getting it started. Not if it was me, or the fairly new design, or an issue with the mag, but I seemed to have managed to jam it before firing a shot.
A "CQB" weapon is pretty much a Walter Mitty deal for about 99.9% of us, but so what?

I see your Kriss and raise the bidding with my 20 gauge 1100LT with a 2 shot extended magazine and 20 inch barrel.

wv - xnrego tetanus - sucks if you get it.

I still like my 12 gauge double barrel (Stoeger) coach gun.

After two rounds of #1 shot, if it is still coming my way it is doing pretty good. That two doses of 25 each 7mm through and through wounds, and no rack the slide sound to warn.

Quality has a quantity all its own.

Stoegers are inexpensive. Buy two!

I, for one, subscribe to the Indiana Jones School of Swordsmanship. Some idiot comes after you with a sword... don't let 'em get that close.

That's because Chuck Norris is deadly at all ranges.

Also, They canceled Dirty Jobs!? Dammit, the world just died a little bit more. Hope Netflix picks it up or something.

WV: have erateme; Nope, not that I know of.
