Size is relative...

"I thought they said these were bigger than they expected?"
Remington R51 with the CTC Laserguard module in the hand of my friend Matt. There's a lot of monkey-motion going on inside the slide of these things relative to a regular recoil or straight-blowback pistol. You can definitely feel the separate breechblock doing its thing when you run the slide.

gawd, that's an ugly little thing. the pistol. not Matt's hand. Matt's hand looks very large and i don't want him mad at me.

Look at the youtube videos on the very high failure rate that they have had. This included some cases of firing when not completely in battery.

Interesting that it's merely an update on a century-old design.

Browning, Pedersen, Mauser... It's a tribute to their genius that, a century later, their designs are still the standards by which others compare.

Anonymous,

I've been following the internet press, yes.

Tam, still got the picture of Matt holding a 1911 like that? :)

I think the funniest comment I read was someone saying "It's as big as a Glock 19!"
um no.

I'm having trouble warming to a pistol of an obscure antique design that's only reason of existence is to get around long expired patents.

The Lovely Harvey, "Holy crap she's got hairy forearms!"

Me, "The text says it's someone else..."

TLH, "She's got hairy forearms then!"

Me, "... named Matt."

Did you ask when these will actually be on shelves? I'm itchin' for a new heater.

Matt's index finger extends to the muzzle.

Fred, they're on shelves.
Specially-prepped samples for journalist received decent reviews.
Actual production pieces, with all the variation therein, have led to screams of "recall!"

I handled one at Rural King and it felt great. It actually is pocketable.

Then again, many have groped at a bar or party, only to realize later the prize wasn't such a treat.
(and I consider myself lucky for having not purchased it, based on the numerous and increasing comments I've read)

For those who haven't met Matt and had a chance to shake his canned-ham sized hands, here's the same hand model with a little more familiar "Subcompact"

Desert Eagle, easy to conceal in the palm of your hand!
