The dominant squirrels around here are enormous fox squirrels, much bigger than the eastern gray squirrels I was used to back in Tennessee and Georgia.
We have eastern gray squirrels around here, too, but they're less numerous and in general much more shy. This little fella lives in a tree that grows right next to the sidewalk down the street, but he'll go scampering up that tree if you so much as look at him.
