I'm just sayin'...

Here is a picture of the Siberian tiger (p. tigris altaica) in a replica of its natural environment at the Indianapolis Zoo:

Here is a picture of the Miniature Broad Ripple biting tiger (p. tigris minuscule) in its natural environment (the futon at Roseholme Cottage):

(Note that this picture of Huck is in his relaxed sleeping pose: The only alteration from his 'at rest' posture was the sound of me futzing with the camera causing him to open his eyes...)

Yes, that's a copy of Streams of Silver on the pillow next to him. I'm a nerd. You've totally found me out.

Have you read Hornfischer's Neptune's Inferno?

Not exactly fantasy though. It's a tale of the Imperial Japanese Navy Teaching the USN all about nightfighting ... and the USN teaching the IJN all about radar, all set in idyllic Guadalcanal.

( note, the USN lost over 5000 men, compared to the marine Corp's 1500 ... and Japan actually evacuated their troops and retreated, which was unheard of ... )

I loved Salvatore when I was a kid. Unfortunately, his writing style... has not aged well. About the only one of this I still pick up occasionally is Homeland.

His battle scenes still have some great fun in them, though, and I can completely understand why a pair of scimitars is standard issue for all DND dark elves.

That's the "I would like you to pet me exactly three times then I'll bite you" pose.

I feel sorry for the cold weather animals in the US summer.

I mean when the daily LOW temp is noticeably higher than their native environment's daily HIGH, that's just brutal.

I have three of the minuscules. Luckily they allow me to share their home at a reasonable cost. I supply chow and pay utilities and they provide endless wonderment and comical entertainment. (When they are not sleeping)

Crash the cat likes to sleep on his back like that, but with his arms in a "praying" pose -crossed, with the paws turned down.

We like to say that he's praying for mousies to prey upon. I'd really like to know what a cat dream contains, because they're only a step away from the State of Nature.

Interesting pose :-)

Domestic (Ha!) cats KNOW they are related to Lions and Tigers. And they KNOW we are related to pray.

So my cat isn't the only one who just KNOWS when the camera turns on no matter how deeply asleep she is.

Simon sleeps in a very similar manor. I think we have Kittie-clones.

You know how cute it is when they wrap their forepaws around your wrist, bite into the web of your thumb and scratch ineffectually at your forearm with their hind claws? It's way less cute when they weigh as much as you do.

And on that note
