Like this comes as a surprise to anyone who knows me...

It'd be interesting to see where Marko and Alston stand.

Seems like the majority of the people taking the test are socialist democrats.

I was perhaps too parsimonious with my "strongly agrees" and "strongly disagrees". Probably due to my inability to feel "strongly" about much of anything after midnight. :)

(Taking test and commenting on it)

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE QUESTION 24!!!

I mean seriously, that would fix most problems in society right there...

24. It should be legal for two consenting adults to challenge each other to a duel and fight a Death Match.

33 is also great, mostly because it is true...

33. Being poor and black is an advantage in getting into college.

So long as you are someone who studied, that is, and didn't waste your chances...

Since so many questions asked what you think, and yet they really mean "what would you legislate", I took the test two different times, the first time going for "what do I personally believe, even if I can't force it on others and DON'T want to, and the second time was "How would I legislate on this question?"

In the end, my beliefs put me at: 43% social moderate and 75% ecconomic conservative, or Capitalist.

My legislation put me at:
70% social liberal and 88% ecconomic conservative, or Libertarian.

Odd...

Interesting. I remember taking this test some time ago and the results I got this time were a bit different, but in the same area. Not a shocking set of numbers.

Social Liberal
(86% permissive)

Economic Conservative
(66% permissive)

You are best described as a:

Libertarian

Guess I'm not quite as heartless as Marko. My boots are covered in suede. :)

They smacked me right down in the middle of big L territory, I don't think that's entirely fair, some of those questions were pretty tough to answer without additional data.

One example was the one about corporations moving jobs overseas. I'm opposed to this, but not because I'm against free trade or capitalism.

Limited liability companies are not people, and should not have the rights that free men possess. Artificial personhood thingies want to be able to move money and jobs overseas? Fine, as soon as they drop the laws protecting corporations by outlawing the modification of lawfully owned DVD players so they can play overseas DVDs. While you are at it, drop the restrictions on me buying overseas meds, you know, for my own safety.

You want free trade? Fine, when can I call up the factory in Russa and have them express ship me a Dragunov SVD sniper rifle without all that paperwork? Why can't I shop for cars, and self import a spartan model that is intended for an overseas market? I promise I will get it to pass the local sniffer test myself.

You want to outsource support to India? Hey, that's OK, but I'll want to live in a dirt cheap country that has low taxes while I telecommute to the USA to punch code at the going free market rate. You can deposit my pay automagicly in my Cayman Islands bank account.

This is sorta like opposing broad police powers to carry nationwide as long as mere mortals are also denied that right. Yea, some are more equal than others.

The stats show lots of social demo's because it's been on Livejournal for a *long* time... and LJ's full of high school students and young collegiates who haven't been out in the world long enough to recieve their wake-up call and think for themselves.
