Clouseau could connect these dots...

Iran is steadfastly refusing to cooperate with the UN on halting their nuclear program, which they insist is for power generation, not making bombs.

Iran has just announced a successful rocket launch; part of a peaceful communications satellite program, they say.

Color me and Cheney skeptical.

Yeah, well.. at this point, I'm honestly resigned to it. Our idgits in Washington and peaceniks around the country will keep ignoring the problem and crying about "escalation" until someday we get a nice big atomic boom in Manhattan or Washington or suchlike.

I actually hope it's Washington. If they take out Manhattan, we lose a primary nexus of the economy. If we lose Washington, we lose instead the primary nexus of economic regulation. After the shock wore off, we'd have an economic boom like we haven't seen in decades. Sure losing the national archives and museums and such would suck, but we're a young country. We could rebuild all that.

So yeah, come on Iran, Islamic Jihad, whoever.. go ahead and hit us.

Just promise to do it while Congress is is session, and you can have San Francisco to.

Iran has actually been at the UN to give them satellite coverage of Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan as part of their "anti-drug" operations. They were originally turned down by the UN's space agency so they're trying it again there. The anti-drug operation is the same way they were able to buy those Steyr sniper rifles that turned up in Iraq- and also night vision and body armour equipment.

They already have 12 cruise missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads bought from the Ukraine.
