You joke, but the Titanic being sunk really is breaking news:

I wish someone would dive down and attach a bomb to that damn ship and be done with it. This 10th anniversary thing is just stupid. I haven't got over being sick of hearing about it from 10 years ago. Okay, more caffeine please..

Alec,

That was the most soul-crushing thing I have ever seen on the internet.

The west has fallen. I am going to throw myself on my sword rather than be enslaved by the barbarians swarming over the ruins.

I don't appreciate being called a sell-out. It implies I had scruples to begin with and that's just not kosher ;)

I sold out, but then I bought myself back an am now only available for lease. Lucrative!

I don't think you CAN sell out, since all you have freehold to is a life estate anyway.

For serious, I wonder what will happen when- and it will happen- we figure out, one by one, how to turn off the aging switches.

After the researchers themselves, who gets those treatments?

Just think of all those people who in 90 (or perhaps allot less) years will be surprised to learn that 9/11 actually happened.

I was going to buy Caliphate purely on the basis that you've read it a lot and it sounds interesting. But alas, no ebook. :(

Maybe it's weird but I have a hard time getting too worked up to buy something that has to ship on the spur of the moment.

Wait....
Tam is available for lease?
Heh, this could provide some amusement.

*checks wallet*
Hmmm
*eyes piggy bank*
Hmmmmmmmmmm

Well, it might provide amusement if I had the coin.

Dang.

100 years ago, Miss Violet, a 100 years ago!

A Night to Remember is still, despite being written something like half a century ago, the best book on the subject.

atrius, you can get the ebook from the Baen Free Library, for free. No DRM and in a whole bunch of formats.

Typical management screwup. Take the latest hi-tech equipment, staff it with people who have no authority over its use, no procedures in place to follow when important things occur, and you end up with lots of bodies as the result.

Although, the irony is sharp. The passengers killed themselves, by treating the wireless as a new toy to impress others with.

Bwahahahahahahahah...

Kratman told me that writing Caliphate was depressing. Myself, I enjoyed it, but I certainly see how he felt that way.

I'll go with that bumper sticker from someone sick of the movie:
"The ship sank, get over it"

Atrius, Caliphate is available through Baen Books' web site.
