A big birthday!

No, not mine. That's tomorrow.

Today is the birthday of John Moses Browning. :)

UPDATE: Someone else agrees that it should be a holiday. It does say something that the mighty M1A2 Abrams tank, powered by a gas turbine engine, with depleted uranium mesh in its composite ceramic-and-steel armor and firing depleted uranium slugs from its gyrostabilized, computer-targeted, laser-sighted main gun at targets that it spotted in the dark through a sandstorm by their heat signature, has mounted atop it by the commander's hatch, near the GPS antenna, a machine gun designed by John Moses Browning in 1920.

You could record yourself singing Happy Birthday to him and post it on your blog.

I'm interested to hear what a sack full of cats being beaten by a nine iron actually sounds like. *grin*

Just let it be known that you are, in fact, "the joyful noise". As is my wife...

H.B. a day early, from the reeaallly - Olde Force. At least when I remember where I was and what I was doing (no, not that) on my *0th birthday.

Happy last day of youth!

Remember, it's 1 beer per year & if you lose count, you have to start over from the beginning.

AND no driving!

Have fun!

Well, when ya get it right the first time, you don't have to make any changes.

Happy Birthday, too. Robert E. Lee, JMB and the Tammynator having a birthdays less than a week apart; who'd a thunk it??

I recently visited the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas. Amongst their exhibits are many display cabinets on the walls, and other displays out on the floor. It seemed like at least two-thirds of the American guns so displayed included the phrase "designed by John Moses Browning".

The whole Browning family deserve much more attention.

The old man for taking his lathe all the way to Utah in his wagon, The boys for their business accumen and John for his brilliance and honest humility; accepting whatever payment the Govt saw fit to offer for wartime work, without diffidence.

I'm Chuffed that we almost share his birthday
