Newsbites:

France opposes Ukrainian, Georgian NATO membership: Well, Pierre, we weren't real keen on letting you in either, so play nice now.

Foreclosed houses + metals prices = stolen plumbing & wiring: Fifteen states have passed new laws in response, because legislators decided it was important to make laws against breaking into houses and stealing stuff, the sale of stolen goods, and things like that. Oh, wait...

China claims agitating by outsiders and foreigners caused rioting: Maybe we can extradite Richard Gere, a bunch of National Geographic guys, and Nancy Pelosi.

As if criminals would care if they passed a law to make stealing more .... er...."illegaler"? Maybe passing one more law on top of that one would make it "illegalest"? What then ? Where does it end? "Double Super Illegalest and I'm Gonna Hold My Breath Until You Stop It!" ???

Here's a novel idea: How's about we enforce the existing laws? What's that? There's to many laws and they are to complicated to enforce them all effectively? SO YOU WANT TO PASS MORE!?!?!? GAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! (exits uprooting hair)

I wouldn't be too surprised if some of that metal was walking out with the evicted owners. I hear it's pretty common for foreclosures to get stripped of ceiling fans, light fixtures, and plumbing fixtures anyway.

If we let Georgia in, who will want to be next?

New Jersey?

There are good reasons not to let the Ukraine and Georgia into NATO, not least because it's a big fat middle finger and a bronx cheer right in the face of Russia, who still has nukes.
