"When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are legislators." - P.J. O'Rourke
Maybe this answers the question why so many are willing to spend millions and millions to get a job that pays, what... $150K/year? Something's rotten in Denmark. What a revelation, huh? :)
yep, and that's what that seventeenth article was really all about...always follow the money...jtc
That's my new favorite quote...
Got legislators that won't stay bought? Are they gouging you on their influence prices? Well get a HANDLE on those with some old fashioned price-control command-economy Socialism!
I keep that one in the rotating list of quotes that go out in my email sig.
I love this quote more then most.
I'll bet there's more then a few bleached balloon knots in DC...db
This may be true, but it's still slightly better than when buying and selling are controlled by untouchable and unfireable bureaucrats or regulators.I think the buying and selling is the problem, not the government person doing it.
O'Rourke's point is against having buying and selling controlled by anything other than... well, buying and selling.
