Politics: Oh, it's fixed, alright...

From comments here:
"CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - Meat cuts vanished from Venezuelan supermarkets this week, leaving only unsavory bits like chicken feet, while costly artificial sweeteners have increasingly replaced sugar, and many staples sell far above government-fixed prices...."
"Government-fixed prices". Pphhhtthhtt!

The government fixes prices like Tony Soprano fixes squealers.

At least all of us who know better can sit and watch Chavez' ship sink while sipping a mojito from the safe shores of our 'capitalist oppressor' homeland.

Maybe this is what it will take to spark a revolution down there.

Wow, it's already worse than I expected. I thought a country with so much oil would take longer to reach that stage of communism.

I give him a year. By then, (I hope) he'll be swinging by his heels from a lamp post Mussolini-style, or exiled to a villa in France, where he can spend the petro-dollars he's skimmed in his dotage.

Either way, the people of Venezuela are in for a rough patch in the mean time.

Hmm. Are you saying that the productive people will stop turning out product if they're not allowed to make a profit on it?

Interesting.

Great little economics laboratory they're running down there, eh?

Not that it will make much difference. There's an endless supply of lefties in the world with the fervent belief that the only reason socialism isn't more prevalent is that it hasn't really been done right yet.

Notice how those that refuse to sell at a loss are branded as "hoarders"??

He also nationalised a bunch of oil operations today.the typical oil co. response to this is to stop supplying parts and doing maint.. Then guess what happens.....
