I don't think this romance is entirely kosher...

...but I don't care.

Coming soon to a bookshelf near you, Bacon: A Love Story.

I don't know if you'd read the bit over on Bridgid's site about Ray Zahab, the ultra runner, and his record dash to the South Pole on foot, unsupported by the outside world? He and his two buddies made the trip fueled entirely on Bacon, butter sticks, and pemmican.
Actually, since all three of them are Canadian, I'm suprised they didn't make the run/ski/snowshoe on Spam, the unique national dish of the great white north.
Being savagely hypoglycemic myself, no carbs unless they're green and fibrous, I pretty much live on lean cold cuts, lots of beef, ham and venison, and serious salads. No starch at all, except for my glass of wonderful Ten-Penny Ale with lunch or dinner. Sorry, it's only available within a small radius of East Hartford CT. Eat you heart out!
For reference, total cholesterol 179, HDL's 65, BP 105 /65. Take that you pasty faced Vegetarians, with your solvent smelling breath and need to preach. Bacon (from the Gaelic bagun, meaning pickled pork) rules.
