Since they are pulling it downhill, until they tire and it runs over them.

Germany could lead the charge to set up job retraining centers where Europeans that have spent most of their lives on the dole could go to learn job skills. The centers could be advertised via social media with a catchy slogan like "Freedom through work"!

I love your metaphor:
Germany has taken out another cash advance on its maxed-out credit card and given it to its deadbeat cousin, Greece, who swears that this time they'll use the money to get a haircut and a job, instead of wasting it on hookers and blow again...

"Higher wages for workers would raise their demand for consumer goods, including the products from other euro-area nations."

No mention of the increase in production costs that would follow, or the effects that would have on the German economy.

The Germans are getting fed up with their tax dollars bailing out central banks. A large percentage of the population knows full well that you don't get out of debt by borrowing money--and it's a shame that TPTB (who also know this) keep kicking the can on down the road.

But, as one European bigwig said, "We know how to solve the problem. What we don't know is how to get re-elected after solving it."

Which gets into priorities among TPTB.

One of the things that intrige(?) me about the Kimber Solo is the "hammerless" lines remind me of the 1908 pocket Colt.....JohninMd(help)

Also, to keep up a gun meme, Tam, suggest to Brigid over at HOTR about getting what used to be known as a Clark steel trigger for her Ruger 22-45. I got one on my original Mk. 0, it's like butter. I'm askin'you to cause I can't reach her comments w/ this @?#%&!+ smart phone of mine. Thanx. JohninMd(help)

Yup. My BO bag is mostly stuff needed to make an emergency camp and/or get something to eat at roadside or in a cheap ass hotel in the middle of nowhere.

I recently blogged that during disasters, cell phones are usually knocked out, and a good plan is to have HAM radios for family communications during emergencies. I was then asked if I kept them in a faraday cage.
EMP is not nearly as big a threat as fire, hurricane, flood, or tornado. Take care of the most likely scenarios first. I can only hope that I will one day be prepared enough that EMP or FEMA death camps are the top items on my list.

Thanks for the link, Tam! I guess I just got a little tired of reading about people packing 80 lb bug out bags, expecting to grab them and hike into the mountains of... well, there's bound to be mountains somewhere, right? If you've gotten to the point where you have 38 seconds to vacate before the nouveax Gestapo kick your door in, you missed a step along the way.

Well, germany has reaped the greatest benefit of the euro, while the "problem nations" such as greece, italy, spain and portugal have been hamstrung by it. They wouldn't be in such deep trouble if they could devalue their own currencies.

So while germany is pulling the load, it's also the main beneficiary of the system, so it kind of balances out.

PS: I'm in a non-euro european country. And the only one sticking to the economic rules at that!

Ah-ha! It was a clever trick by the German all along! They tried War a couple times, but now they really DO own the other countries. See how that works out though...

I'm sure it will go just swell: "Achchung! All your countries are belong to us!"

That ought to kick off the "festivities" quite nicely.

I was born a few years after the last All-European scrimmage. I might have to get a decent cable connection so I don't miss out on this one.
