Last time the government dispersed veterans in DC we had to use French tanks; this time we can use 'Merican ones! #WWIIMemorial

Can they get the OIC of the Park Police contingent to shout "Disperse, ye rebels! Lay down your canes and taxed hearing aids and disperse!"? 'Cause that would be spiffy.

Valerie Jarrett is probably thinking, "Where is Douglas MacArthur when you need him?"
And Smedley was on the other side.
JD beat me to it!

Real good Bonus March references.
I wonder how many in DC have ever heard of it? But the gun culture seems to know the story. I blame John Ross.
"It shall be illegal for any veteran wearing hearing aides manufactured from items related to interstate commerce or using assisted walking devices manufactured from items related to interstate commerce to protest the National Park Service."
Hold the damn phone. Has it really gotten possible to graduate high school in the country without knowing about the bonus marchers?

Yes, and Athens, GA. I graduated HS in '97 and it wasn't until about 4 years ago that I'd heard of either one.
Tango, the Battle of Athens (1946) was in Tennessee.
Have a client who is a Parks Police officer. His quote yesterday was "There's no way that I'm going to roust, beat, or shoot some 90 year old veteran who just wants to see a memorial built to honor him just once before he dies".
I actually hadn't ever heard of the Bonus Marches before. Always a good day when I can walk away having learned something.
See the first link for a picture of the French tanks in action, the second link for a picture before the action, and the third link for a description of the action:

French designed, but almost certainly American made.
JD, I'm absolutely sure that Jarrett and her friends would love to crush those WW2 vets and teach them a lesson. I mean, how dare they?!!
And don't forget that both Ike and Patton were in on the fun with the Bonus Army raid.
Drang, you're right and I don't know where I got Georgia from. My brain said Tennessee, my fingers didn't hear that. My apologies.
Athens, Georgia, is the home of the University of Georgia and the Fightin' Georgia Bulldogs, whose mascot is the eponymous Uga the Bulldog.
So you had that going for you.
Old joke: At the first UGA football game of the year, Cletus and Bubba were seated front row, 50 yard line, when Uga the Bulldog trotted onto the field with the cheerleaders. Uga proceeds to sit down midfield and lick his own balls. Cletus laughs, elbows Bubba, and says, "Damn, I wish I could do that my own self!" Bubba looks thoughtfully at the bulldog for a moment then replies, "Cletus, that dog would bite you!"
I'm a day late and an inflated Bernanke Buck short with this, but this is what I would have written if I had Tam or IowaHawk level skills:
Valerie Jarrett said, "Park Service SWAT teams will go through those old geezers like Patton through a Bonus Army."
The Bonus March massacre was also damned unnecessary.
Simply passing an act converting their bonds into transferable bearer bonds would have made them happy and cost nothing. Banks would have bought them from the veterans at a discount.
