Mission creep.

From the "There's Just No Pleasing Some People" Department:
Rebel leaders have criticized NATO's mission to help protect civilians in recent days, saying residents in Misrata and elsewhere have suffered under hellish attacks from pro-Gadhafi forces with little evidence of NATO air power overhead.
Well, Mr. Rebel Leader, were the pro-Kha... Qa... Gadhafi forces flying? No? Then you've got your No-Fly Zone, right?

Ohhh... by "No-Fly Zone", you actually meant "Come fight our war for us." I see how it is now.

Anyhow, the CNN article also says that some former congresscritters are going to meet with Kha... Qa... Gadhafi. If we're going to send him potential hostages, can't we use current politicians instead?

Lets just put the rest of the world on our welfare. There are "rich" people to screw, right? I know I'm tired of paying more taxes than half this country and the solution is to pay even more. Welfare for the world!

This is (one of the reasons) why I still read this blog every single day.

It's tough to be snarky at all on these internets without having to stop and wonder if we're plagiarizing Tam.

Please remind Omar the Tent User to bump a few off to show he means business!

Bump off a FEW?!?!?

Tell Omar to bump off the LOT, you can always send more. I'll even volunteer some from Oz if that will help.

Sounds like if they have a Problem, they should take it to MAC-V Headquarters in Saigon. Oh wait, sorry, that's where the Last War Started by a DemiCommie to show that he's a Great War Leader, even though he never had a combat slot in the U.S. Military ran his Bloody Folly. My bad.

By the way, anyone see that Light at the End of the Tunnel yet?

Support the rebels just enough to keep the war going. Attrition eats away at both sides. Before you know it every Libyan is dead and the Italians can pump out their oil without interference.
What? Too cynical?
OK, I'll go get some herbal tea and a granola bar.

Current politicians would be poor potential hostages. Any hostage taker worth his salt knows you only take people that someone wants back.

I'd say if you sent current congress critters, it's pretty much a guarantee there will be no hostage taking.

I'm fine with former politicians .... we can start with that wonderful Peacemaker, Jimmah Cahhrtah.... this gig is right up his alley....

Spot on. They have a 'No fly zone' above them. Next, they'll want advisers/FACs. If memory serves, did they not arrest and humiliate an SAS detachment but just a short few weeks ago? One sent to make contact with the rebels? One that surely would have 'advised' them?

Personally I have yet to forgive Libya for Lockerbie, Yvonne Fletcher, supplying Semtex to any nutjob that wanted it, and giving literally shiploads of arms to the IRA.

So my answer to them kind of rhymes with Duck Stew.

Sendarius,

As a conservationist I do not believe in killing all the former law givers. If we did that who would the next generation get to hunt down for fun and recreation?

However in the true spirit of compromise, greatly reducing the number of ex politicos would eliminate a huge pension liability in this budget year and help reduce the FY 11-20 deficits.

I could agree with a culling of 95%of the herd.

Remember how mad George Washington was with the Italians and Greeks when they screwed up the no-sail-zone against the British?

I almost fell off my chair last night - Geraldo Rivera gave an accurate discription of what is going on. The rebels wouldn't survive a decent St. Patrick's Day brawl, much less a battle with an actual army - Hell, they can't even stand up to waht they call the army in Libyia.

Oh, I'll just bet that they are!

"That damned fool in the White House is looking like an even bigger moron than usual with this Libya thing. We've gotta get in there and make a deal with Kha... Qa... Gadhafi so this thing ends before the next election cycle really gets goin'."
