Quote of the Day:

Lyle at UltiMAK on why non-taxpayer-subsidized lefty talk radio sank without a ripple:
And here's a hint just especially for those on the Left: We've all heard your message every day for our whole lives, as long as we can remember. You've gotten your message out, and that is your problem. A lot of people are sick of hearing it because most of it has something to do with how wrong, greedy, stupid, evil, and endangered we are-- the air we breathe is killing us, the food we eat is killing us, oil is killing us, a shortage of oil is killing us, farming is killing us, starvation is killing us, fat is killing us, dieting is killing us, carbs are killing us, disease is killing us, antibiotics, vaccines, and the drug companies are killing us, freedom and prosperity are especially killing us, poverty is killing us, the good economy is killing us but really the economy sucks, terrorists are killing us (but it's our fault) and the war against terrorists is killing us, and everything, absolutely everything, is killing women and children, the elderly and the minorities the hardest-- and how some form of socialism (government-enforced coercion) is the answer to absolutely every problem, real or imagined.

Does that about sum it up? Who needs to tune into a radio show to hear that when we hear it everywhere else every day?

More-of-the-same day in and day out nagging and finger pointing and blaming America and our Liberty for the world's problems isn't something a lot of people are going to pay money to have broadcast in their name. But you don't, and won't, get it anyway.

R, as they say, TWT.

The failure of Leftist Talk Radio is quite easy to explain. In order for it to succeed;

One person can talk.
Others must listen.

The typical lefty, unable to interrupt the speaker, quickly succumbs to a paroxysm of cerebro-vascular contractions, resulting in convulsions, loss of all bladder and bowl control, and a desire to move to San Francisco.

It's hilarious that the Left is so obsessed with Death and Meaning in their Lives, and their sad little philosophy gives them Sartre and nothingness! Bwahahaha! No wonder they sympathize with the mentally and philosophically constricted Islamists, they're in a double-bind.

"So...... if (sc)AirAmerica publicly augers in, and nobody was listening, did it make a sound?

America has always had her puritans. First it was religious zealots coming over to New England. Then it was the temperance movements. Both had a strong foundation in religion and religious principles.

Mencken called Puritanism
"the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy." We had 'em when Sir Walter Raleigh was saving England's bacon from Spain, we had 'em in Ben Franklin's time, we have them to thank for the 18th Amendment, and now we have them to thank for, well, doing what they always do best, which is to take the fun out of everything.

I find it ironically amusing that "our" puritans come not from the "Moral Majority," but from the radical secular left. Radical feminists try to take the fun out of sex; radical eco-nutters try to take the fun out of a walk in the woods; radical vegans try to take the fun out of dinner, and so forth.

They'll do about as well as their forbears, I suspect. Annoying and to be pitied in their joyless hovels, not much more.

gvi, let's just count they ways that real Puritans were more fun than what we've got now:

They drank like fish. Dogfish.
They "bundled."
They grew their own smoke.
Not just tobacco, either.
"Higher education" involved Greek, Latin and Hebrew.
Unregulated blunderbus ownership.
"Locked into stocks": whole 'nother meaning.
You could flee to Rhode Island.

The part about dunking Hillary, I'm leaving to you. Just saying.
